DC5 helical LSD a direct swap for GD3 manual?
Even though Spoon, ATS, J's and others list the Fit LSD as a seperate fitment from the DC5 (RSX), everything I've seen in images makes the differentials from both cars appear identical. Does anyone by chance have the open diff from their Fit available to compare? I have a DC5 helical available to me, just no diff from a Fit without pulling it out.
This would be great news though. I'd love to run a helical LSD over a camlock. Would be worth figuring out.
And, hello forum!

I am going to be nice here. No they are not direct swaps. Pictures may look the same but they are just pictures. The transmissions are different, plain and simple. however since you say you have a LSD available for a k series trans. try it on your own car. If it works then u have made a huge discovery

As stated, I know the part numbers are different.
As also stated, I was trying to find someone with the open diff out of their fit to help compare, instead of pulling the diff out of my car just to see.
Not rocket science.
By the way, Quaife, Cusco and nearly everyone else assign different part numbers to identical units (for whatever reason) for different applications. Even though the actual diff is the same. That hasn't changed since I bought my first LSD for my first Datsun in..however long ago that was...
Anyways, thanks.

similar, mounting bolt, spline counts for the drive shafts etc can be very different too.
As I remember the spline counts on the drive shaft is 32. I can double check when I get home tonight. U can pull your drive shaft out to see coz that's the VERY VERY first step to see if that single diff/LSD fits or not.
Hope this helps.

A little more info.
Comparing pn's (just for sake of listing)
'08 SI LSD: 41200-pnt-003
'05 SI DIFF: 41100-ppp-000
'08 EX DIFF: 41100-rpf-000
'08 Fit DIFF: 41100-pwl-b01
All use the same bearings: 91005-pp5-003
Some use a speedo gear some use the new magnetic trigger system.
Here is a technical drawing of the Quaife EP3 and DC5 series lsd's.

No tech drawing for the fit. Atleast I could not find one.

The Fit's differential dimensions may be in the honda service manual. If someone has it chime in.
<-- Stuck at work so I can't really spend too much time searching.
Another thing:
The Fit uses a 10mm bolt while the SI uses a 11mm bolt for the final drive gear.

I doubt Quaife/Honda will make a final drive ring gear that uses different(odd size for Honda) bolt size.

fyi Im grabbing these numbers from slhondaparts.com

A RSX diff uses 11mm too. Acura Parts @ AcuraAutomotiveParts.org - Genuine Acura OEM Parts from Acura Carland
We need to get a tech drawing for the fit's diff. That will yield the answer.
Maybe the 11mm that is next to the bolts description is referring to its length.
