Question question about i/h/e on AT

i have a 5spd AT 08 i was thinking about putting a intake and a header on. i surrently have a sport muffler on i was thinking will it be worth doing it with any good gains. ( i know the gain wont be much since the motor) or should i just by a intake?

also will the i/h/e set up be bad on my gas mileage?

im currently on stock wheels and stock hight.

i have intake and exhaust on my car. as far as gains go, you'll definately feel it on the butt dyno. but dont expect to much out of it. I would say I/H/E is mostly for sound imo.

gas mileage wise, mine went up a mpg or two.

most headers you will lose low end power and torque (i have no experience with this but this is what i hear)
most intakes don't see a difference until 3000 rpm
most exhaust will make the same gains. just pick the one you like the most

as far as gas mileage goes some say it will some say it won't be affected. i put my top fuel intake average 37mpg and put my stock intake and still average 37mpg. i also noticed no difference in the mpg when i put the exhaust on.

you will notice a change in performance and just have fun if you have the money

headers lose low end power? wonder why it does that. i do know that mid range acceleration increases alot though with headers though.

boltons have been proven to make LITTLE gains. not worth the money. plus, why would you want a loud, droning car? yours is automatic, and automatics sound terrible with exhaust hahaha. not just fits, but all automatic cars

Thats kind of a bold statement. You must mean all 4cyl automatic cars sounds like crap, because an automatic V8 with exhaust tends to sound like pure sex.

I think header design 4-1 are the ones that lose a little low end power to gain more top end power. And header design 4-2-1 gain a little low end power and no change in top end power.

4-1 headers (that i know of): Megan Race header, T1R response header
4-2-1 headers: DC sports, Weapon R street header, Weapon R race header (true 4-2-1)

Solbrothers is right when it comes to gaining a significant amount of power from bolt-ons, I think max you can gain by getting the whole I/H/E setup is roughly 10-15HP. As for the statement of not being worth the money, I think brand new isn't worth the money for the cost:benefit ratio, but if you can get I/H/E used for less than $500-600 vs $1000+, why not? The fun factor/drivablility:cost ratio will be worth it.

the mugen header is a 4-1 design, and i just can't see those guys being ok with sacrificing low end for high end power, especially on an enigine like the l15 which needs everything it can get.

automatics done drone as much as you think. you can buy a quiet system, like tanabe, and it will sound fine.

if anything, it makes more sense to mod an a/t fit, because its the one that needs to most help to get out of its own way.

I agree, autos do tend to drone, plus everyone knows you have an auto when it shifts..

That said, bolt-ons will do the same thing to your auto fit as to any MT fit. You're just feeding a larger percentage of your gain into the tranny.

I have an Auto too.. 2007.

Intake is on the way.
EP3 muffler
debating on DC sports 4-2-1 header ceramic.

with that said... the car should be a lil more torquey(is that a word?) it will give the car a little more juice and feel more peppy!

If your going to autox your car you need to save that money your going to spend for the intake and get a nice set of tires, brakes, lightweight wheels and suspension. Those will do wonders in an autox over the 2 or 3 hp the intake will give you.
