Which Torque Damper are the best?
Title said all, im looking to buy a engine torque damper, which one are the best? I've seen the spoon, j's racing, ingall, weapon r and more..
Help pls! Thanks |
i've been thinking about getting the ingalls etd, it looks sleek and not shiny. as for the best..... i've have no idea. they all get the job done, it's all on brand name preference.

But if i install the spoon, i think i cant install a a strut bar in front.. look at this:

My ingalls seems to rattle alot, and now the rubber inside feels alot softer than before, the good thing about ingalls are the bracket but there ugly it let's you use any strut, ide like to use a different damper with ingalls bracket.

What about prices, who is the cheapest?
|
i would say get the spoon one because im a firm believer in that company.
j's has a front strut bar and etd combination package that you can consider. personally i would just skip the etd and go right to harder engine mounts because the etd really destroy the stock engine mounts quickly because of the soft rubber in the oem mounts. |
I like J's Racing. Just look at Ben's AJR Timeattack GD and seehow much J's racing stuff is on it. =\

Spoon ftw!!! =)

engine mounts ftw!!!

Innovative 95A engine mounts

for my Spoon ETD ,all 3 top mounting nuts loosened and fell off. the bolts are pretty long so they were still in position and the ETD was still semi-functioning.. replaced with some nuts from homedepot now I just check it monthly to make sure it doesn't loosen up again.
was going to recommend you try Ingalls because it's out of the way and would seem to have more stiffness, but hearing some weird stories about how the rubber washer melts off and other stuff like that i donno how serious a factor it is. i still like the spoon etd, just wish the bolts would loosen so easily (had them really tight too). i think it's caused from downshifting for engine braking making lots of engine vibration. |
i'm going agree with the other people on this thread and say get solid motor mounts. you wont need an ETD after you put them on.
if you do get one, get spoon. when you put the nuts in pull back the fender liner and put a nut on the other end of the bolts |
Spoon Sports FTMFW!

Do you know that the J's Racing and Spoon ETD are the same? They are both made by the same ETD co. in Japan. This same co. also makes ETDs for Silvias.
|
dont waste your money jsut get engine mounts
|
i too am in the market for a full suspension upgrade, wondering the same question myself...
i remember reading somewhere about the first spoon brackets breaking and reading somewhere else later on that they fixed it with a redesigned bracket?! i also remember aj-racing had mounts for sale, but i don't see them on their site no more... wasup? info? hmm... |
torque dampers suck, get upgraded mounts or even motor mount inserts are still better than any torque dampers.
