What is the Best Headers for GD3

among the 3 choices what is the best header for GD3? in terms of performance

my choices are

1. 5zigen pro racer it is 4-1?(since im using 5zigen pro racer full exhaust to match with)
JDM SELECT - JDM Select Products

2. Mugen (it is 4-1?) JDM SELECT - NEW PARTS APril 9, 2008

3. Spoon (according to spoon website its 4-2-1?)

Weapon R Race header

FITGD3 07-06-2009 07:31 AM

Mugen ftw!

keepitpg 07-06-2009 10:10 AM

the best headers are (in order) j's racing, mugen, t1r
best for price are weapon r street or megan
the only race header for us is the weapon r race header. to me, the only reason you see decent gains with that, is because it replaces the cat.

trancedsailor 07-06-2009 10:13 AM

yeah, but seriously why get J's or Mugen when you make greater power with Weapon R?

keepitpg 07-06-2009 11:24 AM

add a test pipe with mugen or j's and itll be better than weapon r

well aside from the fact that you would NEVER have fitment issues with j's or mugen and the fact that they are a reputable tuners with years of honda experience...how do we KNOW that the weapon r makes more than the j's or mugen? i've NEVER seen a mugen header dynoed.

trancedsailor 07-06-2009 12:33 PM

relax dude it was just a question. I've heard only amazing things about weapon R race header after the dyno

i'm relaxed, just was wondering if you had seen the power gains for the other two, since you said you could make MORE power with the weapon r race header. i was wondering how much more.

keepitpg 07-06-2009 12:39 PM

not trying to be hostile.. but ive heard that the gains arent as good as what weapon-r claims.

see thats what i'm talking about. if you are going to say something is better than something else, an accompanying reason is in order.

mugen claims a 5% increase across the powerband.

t1r is something like that also, but has bigger piping which is favorable for FI. if i had the budget i'd get j's though.

trancedsailor 07-06-2009 01:20 PM

yea, guess when I'm ready for supercharging I'll pick up a J's header and test pipe since my suspension is fully J's minus the coilovers lol

jaebee 07-06-2009 05:18 PM

I think it should be noted that the weapon r street header (which is the best bang/buck) is more for torque than hp. I think it gains ~10 ft/lb of torque (low rpm) compared to maybe ~3 hp, whereas J's other headers are about getting 5-10 hp at 5-6k rpm, which, in reality, isn't going to help you as much as low end torque

devilsfit 07-06-2009 09:19 PM

I had the weapon-r race headers and they were awesome. You actually feel the difference =]

JDM_FIT 07-07-2009 10:11 PM

thanx for the replies guys...

@devilsfit can you post your weapon-r race header? thanx

Slimjimx701x 07-08-2009 01:13 AM

What headers are those? They look custom

keepitpg 07-08-2009 01:14 AM

weapon r race header.

I could of swore they got a different design. Learn something learn today :D

keepitpg 07-08-2009 01:19 AM

they used to be 2 piece. but they are one piece now. you can see that they just welded them together lol

FELIXY69 07-08-2009 01:50 AM

i would say
Mugen replica --- well if u can afford it get the real mugen...
i drove my frds 1.5L AT with mugen header, and cold air intake and it really picks up !!! alot of TQ !!!

also i think the WR 4/2/1 header is good too...but i heard it rubs !!!

Spooling 07-08-2009 02:05 AM

none or OEM for naturally aspiration

side mount for turbo

s/c dunno

his was the real one right?

EK3 Ferio 07-09-2009 01:28 AM

Wow nice Tri-Y design like the Hytech header. B)

FITGD3 07-20-2009 06:15 PM

js racing, mugen,spoon,

vbo 08-01-2009 04:21 AM

Best Header is the Weapon-R Race Header.... :hyper:
Why this is a 4-2-1 Stainless Race header.

But for an only header : Same same

08_Nick_Fit 08-01-2009 04:41 AM

soo where does one look to get a replica mugen header exactly?

diedwater 08-01-2009 08:33 AM

On na fit, removing cat will cause u to loss back pressure, my fit actually got faster after I put the cat back on, and I would say it's a noticeble gain too, so I really doubt that the wr race header is much beneficial to a na fit, boosted maybe.

revd34 08-01-2009 02:36 PM

i don't trust weapon r race header. they finally fixed the leaking by welding. i'm pretty sure it still has fitment issue. plus the dyno gain that they post on their website is BS. i think i remember seeing a +9 hp just for their street header

Texas Coyote 08-02-2009 02:11 PM

There are and have always been differences of opinion regarding exhaust and intake modifications..... The one thing that I know from many years of messing around with cars and motorcycles is that to benefit from changes from stock, air to fuel ratio adjustments are a must.... There isn't anything wrong with the stock tube type exhaust manifold across the power band and larger diameter tubes almost always result in a loss of power and torque at least on the lower side of mid range with out A/F/ ratio changes..... A smaller tubed header that is focussed on increasing bottom end/mid range torque is the best bet unless you are equipped to make changes to the ignition timing and air to fuel ratios.... Horsepower figures sound impressive but it is torque that wins races.

wdb 08-03-2009 11:28 PM

I have the T1R 'Response' header, tuned for midrange response and torque. By 'tuned', I mean that they built prototypes with several different tubing diameters, put them in the car, dyno'd them, and went with the size that provided the best numbers. It's the only header I've seen for the Fit that actually appears to have been engineered.

Fitment is perfect too. Now if they'd only add a couple of brackets to accomodate the stock heat shield...

DOHCtor 08-04-2009 01:41 AM

To date, from what i've heard, DC Sports seems to be hard to beat dollar per dollar... T1R may be a better bet if you have more cash! Weapon R Race may be good too if you have a cat-back to go with it and the police don't want to ruin your fun from too much noise that, i assume, would result by deleting the Cat!

Spoon, Mugen... From what i've heard, it's not very appealing from a ''Dollar\Gain ratio'' perspective!!
Megan... Seems it's making good top end but then fades if somebody get in the car...

Like Texas Coyote said, ''Torque Wins Races'' and for 250$ i would get a DC Sports from E-bay or some kind of long tube... Maybe Hytech makes a Header for the Fit? I would be sold to them!

Marko!!

Kurse 11-07-2009 04:33 PM

After all that, which one is the best for a N/A setup for the track with a good tuning on dyno?

It give me headache to trying the best one for what i want to do.. T1R, Weapon R, Mugen, DC, J's racing.. Fuck. Which one are the best bang for buck for the n/a!!

Thanks :)

Texas Coyote 11-08-2009 10:11 AM

It is hard to get an usable power increase worth the price of a well made set of headers on an otherwise stock engine configuration and it could even lead to less than desirable performance than the stock header through the overall power band..... Whatever you get be sure that the power increase is throughout the RPM range and not all or nothing at certain revs..... A smaller increase over a larger percentage of RPM is more usable than a large increase over a small percentage, much like the stock header works on an engine without internal modifications or forced induction over 5 PSI.

dewthedew 11-08-2009 12:27 PM

weapon r race header+50mm skunk catback=best setup by far.

Oh hell yes with the extended power band of 10 PSI.... But it would murder the low end on a N/A/engine.

dewthedew 11-08-2009 12:47 PM

No actually that setup works really well on both na and boost from what I've experienced.

Texas Coyote 11-08-2009 12:54 PM

Hey that is great.... I wonder how much of the power increase results from deleting the cat, any idea about that?
