Blacked Foglight Covers

I know some of you have already seen it. I decided to do this little mod today. Easy to do, fast, and really makes the front stand out.

When I first got the Fit I thought the color matched foglight covers/surroundings were a little much. Just too much color going on; on top of the color matched headlights.

When I installed my front lip I ate up the foglight covers a bit. Today I painted them black.
-I bought Krylon Camouflage paint. Only comes in 3 colors; yes I used the flat black. This color/paint is pretty identical to the natural looks of plastics.

-The foglights/foglight covers are held into the bumper with 1 bolt per foglight.
-Use a phillips head screw driver and remove each bolt on the sides of the foglights. (inward of the bumper. Grill area)
-Then remove the foglight bulb clip.
-I sanded the painted area lightly with 800grit. Wiped area clean and painted. Simple as that. Installed and notice the difference right away.

Also painted the area behind the scoops in the lip black. I hated seeing the bumper behind the lip.

Throw in a rear shot. Heh

Some will like it. Some wont.

Looks good, I was thinking about doing something like that for the lip. I'm supposed to get a lip soon for my Fit.

I think it NEEDS to be done. Hahah! Theres too much color on the front of the Fit. It deff adds a little touch. Everyone I know noticed it right away. Even my mom.

Im going to do a little lighting mod soon. I think you all will like it.

SpeedNStylez. Took forever and they sent me the wrong lip the first time. I got it cheap though. Aspec sells them. Theyre made by ABSDynamics.

The lip doesnt fit all that great. I had to dremel in yesterday to make it fit right. Around the foglight areas the lip dug into the foglight covers. Everything else is flush.

I think they were following the color matched headlights.

I just bought a set for my base car that are black, they JUST arrived.

Hopefully, in the next couple weeks I will install them, and I do plan to keep them black.

The base accessory light housings are a "matte" finish, not gloss, not flat either. A slightly textured spray paint could duplicate this.

EDIT: Actually, they are not textured, I looked at them again, but it is more of a matte than flat or gloss finish.

you can always go to a sign store and buy vinyl they use for lettering on cars signs etc it will cost you about $10 or less for the material if you want to do it yourself or ask them how much for them to do it. i did it my self.(you can peel it off if you don't like it.Sorry i don't have pictures

Added to the foglight covers. Did my headlight housings last night.
UGH!! Took 2-3hrs per headlight. These were by far the hardest headlights Ive taken apart.

Also ambered the city/running light. Looks JDM now!!

I LOVE IT!!!! Still going to do my running light mod. Im going to change the socket and have steady running signals AND regular turn signals.

Should add a nice touch to the front.

Dear Mx6GT:

Wow, the headlights are sharp. Not sure the Honda rationale about body color.

I am pulling my front bumper off this weekend to add Honda accessory fogs and do some minor bumper repair to my base Fit, I have some questions.

1. Several say to use a hot air gun to get the lights open, is that how you did it?

2. What paint have you used?

3. How did you glue the lights back together? I have done the old metal/glass ones on European cars in the past, use a ton of caulk? Any fear of the lense coming loose and moisture problems?

4. What did you do to make the clear markers amber? Film or paint?

Sorry for all the questions, but these are good looking mods you have done!

1. Yes I used a heat gun. You need to heat all areas where the headlight lining and casing meet. Takes a while.

2. I used the same paint as I did for the foglight covers. Krylon Camouflage flat black.

3. I heated the glued areas up with the heat gun and crimped the headlights back together. They arent perfect as from Honda but Im going to take them out and reseal them again. It rained a little here yesterday and my headlights didnt fog. Im worried they will so Im going to reseal them.

4. An amber spray I get from a local import store. Its really hard to find and isnt cheap.

Thanks a lot.
