Options Wanted: Front Lip Damage

Ok, at this point I have pretty much accepted that my front lip is doomed as most of the roads around here are designed for F150's with gigantic lifts. My front lip looks like a mangled mess front scraping pavement regardless of how careful I angle the car and avoid steep slope driveways.

So here are some ideas I was thinking about, also if you have some suggestions I am always open to hear them (however the "You should have bought a truck" ones will be ignored )

Idea 1: "Murdered out Lip"
Basically pulling the lip off sanding it down and painting it flat black.

I don't really want to spend a bunch of money to have it refinished professionally only to scrape the pavement on the way out of the shop. No idea if this would look good or not, when I have seen it done I notice people do the skirts as well to tie the look together.

Pics of an SSM with black lip wanted!!

Idea 2: The Fit Skid
Some kind of protective guard similar to a skid plate hidden just out of sight.

never seen one but it seems like a good idea.

Idea 3: Wax on, Wax off
I was thinking that if you took a waxing block (similar to the stuff skateboarders use to wax up curbs) and applied a thick layer to the underside of the lip.

The concept being it would just slide over minimal impact bumps. The lip right now seems to bite into concrete and pavement, if some of that friction was removed it might extend the life and reduce the amount of paint that is taken off whenever one of those nasty driveways you can't avoid comes up.

Anyway, looking for some inspiration. Thanks in advance!

Hmm.. This is an interesting thread and i had to post. I had the same issue and eventually pulled the lip and sold to Ray in as is condition. I really wanted to paint it black but i really havent seen any pics of one so i chickened out. Beat rush i believe makes somewhat of a skit plate but i dont know how well it works or how low it actually sits. gd3kamiwannab has one so you could ask him if it actually works or not. I would think that one of those steps would work the best. Im not a fan of number 3 but thats just me. Just my thoughts

What the chance that someone do some magic with photo shop to see how the lip would look like in flat black...

Here is one, although I screwed up the color a bit... I think the color would be similar to the other black parts of the car. I did the side skirts as well, looks a bit out of place otherwise.

I can't say I am a big fan of the look, but maybe in person it would look nicer.

Sounds interesting, I can't find anything online though. Anybody have some links handy?

I want one too thats why i suggested it but i didnt really look at the fact that it really wont help save the lip. They are under $200 bucks so its not a bad deal if you ask me.

Do you know if that is a color matched price or unpainted?

On mine you can start to see it from the front now, the underside looks pretty nasty to say the least!

It only comes one way from what i understand and how it looks in the pic is how it comes to you. gd3kamiwannab has one and has a thread on here somewhere when he got his and installed it and i remember it being the same color. I guess you could paint it if you like cause if your that low your not gonna be able to see it. If you read the little sales pitch on the site it says it helps cool the engine and aerodynamics (high speed stability) so right there its sold for me im just spending my money on other things now. I still need a new lip first so thats what im trying to figure out now.

Looks like it will do great to smooth the underbody for mileage improvement, (as described in another thread) BUT, for those of us who do our own oil changes, it looks as though it might get in the way.......still, I kinda think I WANT ONE!!

i say just be careful where you drive. ive noticed that if i go at enough of an angle, it's pretty hard to scrape the lip.
