looking for advice on fiberglass

does any one have any experience with fiberglass? how hard would it be to make some custom pieces out of fiber glass? ive been looking into it and it doesnt seem that difficult it just seems very time consuming and requires alot of patience.

Not that hard but it all depend on the shape/size of the pieces.
WHat are you planning to make?

im actually almost done forming the mold for it, ive been at it all night since i got home at 7.

its basically the same shape as the t1r just a one piece design and a little more rounded. not to mention cheaper, for the big block of foam im using for the mold, and everything i needed for fiber glass i paid a little over 50 bucks. i already had everything else like the filter, couplers and silicone hose laying around the garage. my mold doesnt look that bad, i have been very patient with it. i just hope i dont screw up with the fiber glass.

You're going to have fun with this project. I did a custom gauge pod for my car and it "fits" perfectly. No pun intended lol. You're doing a mold which I think is awesome. Unfortunately, I did not make a mold of my project so there is only 1 of 1 for my gauge pod in the world. lol. If you need any assistance let me know. Very simple stuff and I really hope everyone can do it as easy as I did.

If you got any questions shoot them my way. For example what material to use, where to buy, how long to cure, how many coats, steps involved, etc...

The best part is, the more you practice the better you'll get.

Here's a walkthrough for doing fibreglass sub boxes from a website where I buy fibreglass for roofing, gonna have a go at something for the jazz myself as it is pretty easy and straightforward really.

im pretty excited about this. i have always wanted to venture into this sort of thing. im still shaping the mold i want it to be perfect. i figured once i had a good feel for fiber glass i could get into making my own carbon fiber.

Hey – if you are willing to take I-35 (and I-35W) to Fort Worth, specifically, Arlington; you should visit Complete Aero Kits at Welcome to CompleteAeroKits.com -- ask for Tommy Nguyen. He is well respected within DFW metro (imported autos), dealing with bodywork/paint (carbon fiber is his specialty) and performance modification.
