I thought that some other people may be interested in the genuine carbon fiber license plate frames that I have installed on our Fit. Auto Barn lists the frame for $29.95 and has photos of it. I ordered the frames directly from the manufacturer, Cruiser Accessories, for $23.75 each. Unfortunately, Cruiser does not list the frame on their website so you have to phone in your order. The Cruiser sales rep said that they were in the process of moving their offices so they have gotten behind in updating their website with new products. The photos of the frame don't do it justice. The actual frame looks 3D and shimmers slightly in the light as you change your viewing angle (as is characteristic of carbon fiber). The carbon fiber construction is protected from the elements by being sandwiched between a layer of black plastic below and a layer of clear plastic above. All of the layers have been cast together in a mold to form one solid piece.

 

Good find, but the outline is too thick for my taste. I have one of the black Cruiser Classic frames, so they're good products. If they made a carbon fiber Classic, then I'd be all over it.

By looking at these images, you may be able to see why I think that a relatively wide license plate frame looks good on the Fit. All of the design elements on the front and back of the car that are black are also wide. The grills, the window surrounds, the bumper applique, even the wipers are all wide. To me, the wide black license plate frame picks up on these other design elements.

 

sad thing is that we sell this brand through a distributor and when i checked our "cost" it was higher than what you paid for it. GG
