Greetings from Auckland, New Zealand! (GP5 2014)

Any other Kiwis here?

I drove my new purchase home today - a Japanese used import of the 2014 Fit Hybrid (GP5) with 99000 kms (61500 miles) on it. Honda New Zealand doesn't sell the Hybrid version here, which is a real shame! I got this car at a decent price because so many car buyers are afraid of the 100,000 kms mark - well, I'm currently driving an Accord Euro (Acura TSX in the USA) with 280,000 kms mainly from the previous owner, and it runs just fine.

Why did I join the Fit club? I started with the Fit Aria (a.k.a. Honda City, the Fit sedan) then changed to the Accord for better driving comfort and power. It delivered on those, along with higher fuel consumption and surprisingly narrow boot space! So I decided to downsize to the Fit, which is actually an upgrade! Better driving visibility, better cabin tech, and oh how I've missed my Magic Seats!

The main challenge is the Japanese dash system so it will take me a while to decipher those. It is also fairly new on our NZ roads so I am concerned with the availability of hybrid spare parts should I need them.

Here's some photos:

GP5 in Vivid Sky Blue

"Smart Edition" with steering wheel media controls, and L package, with half-leather seats.

Japanese manuals galore!

If you've made it this far, here's an offer of help for fellow GP5 owners. I have checked out a lot of used Fit Hybrids in my search for this one and I noticed that most of them do not include the original manuals, which can make things even more difficult to learn! Let me know if there's a specific function or button that you're wondering about and I can look it up. There are too many pages to scan in entirety, so please be specific. I cannot read Japanese myself and rely on Google Translate.

Footnote for those looking to get a GP5: The Japanese market has a few trim levels and even more optional extras, which makes it really hard to compare models together. The L package has the half-leather seats and cruise control. Some add on a Safety package which adds more airbags and CTBA (City Braking Assist). Mine has a "Smart" package which adds more USB ports and media controls on the steering wheel. I have seen other GP5's with front windshield heaters and heated seats. It's a dizzying array of choices!

kiwi here!

Hi Zemien,
Your fit looks very nice, what dealer did you buy? Have you changed the media unit?

I have been looking for the past 2 months for a Fit Hybrid 2014-2015 and I'm being very picky about color and km, I want L package on blue pearl and looking for low km, the only one I drove at gvi electric had 69000 and I felt it was a bit wobbly, waiting for another dealer that is receiving one with 42.000km

Hi,
Re: manuals. The company in Penrose called Japanese Solutions is making booklets in English for most popular cars. Give them a call to see if they have it for your GP5. Those are cheap and only very frugal dealers in Auckland sell cars without those English manuals. I am not affiliated with that company, but I know them in person.
Re; Dash. Have you managed to take it out yet? What is yours dash part number, starting with 7810-xxxxx? Does your car have CTBA or not? Want to catch up (in Greenlane) to take it apart?
