Hello World

New to the forum, but the first owner of my 2012 Sport. I originally bought it to be my daily driver, and started working on my e36 more. But then my e36 saw the end of its life, and wanted to start modding my Fit, but just kept it as is for so long... until now. So here I am, from casual lurker of the forum to now an official member.

Don't plan on doing much since it is a daily driver still since our Pilot isn't as gas efficient, but I just feel the urge to just switch up a few things. But the itch started when my cousin gave me some 17s that he had on his Fit, and now I want to do other stuff. My headlights finally gave up, so put on some LEDs. Wanted to do a retrofit, but maybe down the road since the immediate need was to replace my headlights. Made sure theyre not aimed high... but if i constantly get high beamed then I'll consider going back.

I was looking at the Yonaka cat back exhaust. Was always hesitant because I dont want something that sounds like I threw on a tin can under my car. Didnt want something too loud, since my babies take naps on car rides, and so far the Yonaka fits the bill.

Yonaka Cat-Back

This came in today, and I'm stoked. I share the Fit with my wife since she has a further commute than I do (I work from home). She hated my e36 BMW that had a track pipe, so it will be funny for me to see her face when she realizes that I installed this. This will be a lot quieter than that, but it will still be noticeably louder than stock.

Will do. I've read horror stories of the bolts that connect to the cat were a pain. But when I take into account they live in areas of heavy rain or snow, Im optimistic all i would need is some wd40 and a breaker bar.

Swifts arrived Swiftly!

After much consideration and picking the brain of @mike410b this came in the mail. I've kept my Fit pretty much stock since I bought her. The susepension is nearing its end, so figured might as well give it an upgrade. Just waiting for my Koni Strts to arrive and then will try to find time to install.

Still haven't installed the Yonaka. Its hard to find time to work on the car, but hoping to do it this weekend.

I installed it today and I'm mixed about it. To me I'm pleasantly surprised at the tone it has. Its nice and deep, and kind of brings me back to when I had my e36 BMW. My wife laughed and started remembering how much she hated how loud that car was, especially having 2 12" JL audios bumping in my trunk.

Now I'm torn because I personally love how it sounds, but it is loud. The last time I've driven a car with a loud exhaust was 2015. It was an e36 with an Active Autowerks exhaust w/ track pipe and loved the tone. The Yonaka on my GE is pretty close to being a new favorite. When I bought my car at the end of 2011, I never thought I would consider putting an exhaust on it... but here I am.

Where I am torn is that 2015 was different when it came to modifying cars. While the laws are essentially the same, now they are just enforcing rules when it comes to aftermarket exhausts. Why would I put an exhaust to begin with living in California? I don't know... bored I guess. I got hit with the modding bug after swapping my wheels and radio, and just wanted to do it. Now that I did it, I am torn becaise I do love how it sounds... but I guess I will see how i feel about it after a few days.

I hear you. I love how "invisible" my Fit is, especially around cops. But a nice exhaust is so tempting. Thanks for the input 👍

So either I'm just used to it now, but it doesn't seem as loud. Thankfully I work from home, so my neighbors don't have to be awoken by a cold start. I guess its not as loud too because when I went to get gas, there was a cop and when I started my car he didn't even flinch or turn around. Or maybe he didnt care since he was on break.

but so far im slowly changing my thought and starting to feel more comfortable about going with Yonaka. Still curious to see how an HKS or Tanabe sounds in person... but for now I'm happy with what I have.

Added to the queue!

This came in the mail today. Its now in thr queue of random car parts waiting to be installed. Reached out to John from JDP asking if he is still actively taking orders. Took some time for me to hear back, so I assumed he wasn't being that this is only a side project/business. Sent a follow up, and then next thing I know I'm chatting with him and paying for a deposit. He gave me an estimate of 5-6 Weeks, and right at the 5 week mark I get an invoice. He was quick to ship out and thankfully hes in SoCal so it arrived the very next day.

Excited to install this duck bill spoiler, but before doing so I want to install my new shocks/struts and swifts. I feel it would look a bit awkward sitting at stock height with the duck bill.
