New Fit Owner

Hi all,

New Fit owner. Just picked up a 2015 EX for $12.5k OTD here in Northern California. 73k miles. Wife recently started working after 8 years as a stay at home mom, and in the wine industry she’s required to work weekends. That ended up forcing dad (me) to play Mr. Mom on the weekends and run kids all over town.

my midsize pickup truck was killing me in mpg so figured I’d search for a decent little commuter and I think I found it. Told the dealer my parameters and they made it work.

hope to learn some cool tips, tricks and other DIY info here.

cheers!
-Chris

Congratulations, and welcome!

Nice to see used Fit prices returning to Earth. I can't offer a lot of tips or tricks; had my 2017 less than a year now but this is a good place to learn.

thanks! Definitely not perfect cosmetically, you can tell it was “well loved”. Has a hitch, not sure I’ll ever use it but don’t mind it either. Also nice because my kids are still young and beat up all my stuff anyway, so I won’t get too upset for any damage they might cause.

plan is to keep my truck and use for when I need it, then hand it down to my son in a few years.

I live not far from you, in the East Bay, and searched far and near for months for a used Fit I could afford. Finally scored a well-used (but dealer-repaired) 2013 for $14K but it was a struggle. It's run very well indeed for the less than a year I've had it ... one oil change as the level dropped normally, that's it. Best of luck with yours! (If you're on Reddit, check out the Honda Fit group there as well ... lots of good tips in between the beauty shots.

thanks for the tips Jonathan! The car was on the coastal region for some time according to the CARFAX, so the wheels do have some oxidation. My wife wants me to put a new set of wheels on it since they’re like $600 out the door. I’m considering it - but this is my DD so it’s probably going to get a little beat up anyway (if not by me, by my 4 or 7 year old) 😁

i don't think the oil level on a Fit should "drop normally", fwiw. but your mileage may vary ...
