u folks do roof vinyl installs? is the 3m 1080 the go-to vinyl for gloss black? thinking about doing the R's roof soon. ive done roof vinyl installs using dinoc a while back (like 5-6yrs ago) but havent really followed up on what's out there. 1080 has air release so it allows dry installs..which i want to do on the R.

next up wheels for winter set.. probably going to do 19" HLT series OZ with DWS06. yah, a tad pricy but nothing like the wheels i had on my previous cars which were like a grand a pop + 300 tires each

that new boost setting i did the other week on my GTI is fantastic. 92F high humidity and still pulling hard!

some dumbarse in a mazda6 did a ricor flyby after i passed him on the expressway entrance. i wasnt racing him or anything, just minding my own biz enjoying the acceleration since traffic opened up. even the V6 one is no competition vs a stock GTI, he was in a 4 banger.. wrong in so many ways.

yah, i need to be careful i don't eat the whole thing as one serving.

so i complained about the scratches on my new CF trim (which i polished out) and the store is going to credit me $50. very nice of them.

so going to use that fund towards buying the JDM STI leather center dash gauge hat.
then i can say i am officially done modding my STI.

meh, the vinyl i got was the 3M 1080 gloss black which was easy to apply, but the store that cut the vinyl put in all sorts of scratches and bends in the middle of the wrap, i could not use it. son and i started wrapping the roof and noticed a scratch and permanent bend but it wasnt too bad so kept going only to find more as we applied to the roof. i waz so faking pissed for the wasted time.

anyway, we ended up removing the wrap from about 65% completion and toss it in the trash, ofcourse complained to the store and got a full refund.. so while i was pissed, it wasnt a total loss.

while we were working on the wrap though, i noticed a shallow dent in the roof of my R. mustve came from the time i heard a BANG on the expressway like in the first 2 weeks of ownership. anyway, pulled it out via PDR.

also my Kerscher CF splitter for the R arrived so it as a pleasant surprise. didnt know UPS delivered ground on saturdays. woot!

applied some clearcoat on the back side as it was completely raw on that side to prevent the CF from coming apart on its own from humidity and water. then my other kid and i installed it. looks fantastic. sooo nice.

now i need CF side mirrors caps and CF roof spoiler extension to match.. lol

pulling out my R for some motoring fun this am. too tired to wash the GTI today, im off tomorrow so will do that tom.

kinda sore from the vinyl install yesterday. if u remember my right arm has not fully recovered yet from the injury a while back so my elbow is feeling it this am. that pulling action was pretty painful when removing the vinyl. quite literally on my left middle finger, got a blister. lol

im going to be working on faux vent decals today for the front bumper using the remaining 1080.

so while installing the splitter yesterday it reminded me i need to get a stubby hex driver bit cause the hex bit i have is a 3/8 drive and requires an adapter when i run the 1/4 drive super compact makita driver. with the adapter the shaft gets a tad long and annoying while working under the car.

found a cool stubby hex 1/4 drive set on amazon today. free too cause i have a bunch of amazon points. woot!
