That was funny! I used to own a Supra. Just sad to see what Toyota has become. Yes, they sell a whole lot of cars, but I swear they do it by brainwashing people.

They are HUGE in nascar, fishing tournaments, etc. They spend a ton of advertising dollars in the right places.

My gripes with the Taco and 4Runner wouldn't exist if it weren't for their price tags. The 4Runner I test drove was close to $50k. It should be $35k for what you get. $50k doesn't even get you apple carplay.

The best 4Runners/Taco's in my book are the older ones. The new ones don't really offer much more than a 15 year old one.

Guys I gotta share this...when I first got the civic i was toying with the idea of getting a ECU flash/tune. They ran anywhere from 500-800 depending if you just wanted the dongle (need to use laptop) or a touch screen style unit.

Basically they got you as much as 250hp and 275ft/lbs with JUST a tune (stock is 190hp and 215ft/lbs)

I put it on the back burner and decided to check if there were any performance mods lately and found 2 companies doing turbo replacements. With some simple bolt ons, new clutch and the upgraded turbo with flash they were able to get an obscene 355hp and 360ft/lbs. No prices yet...and probably a bit too much power without an LSD for a FWD car.

But still its insanity I tell ya!

Regarding the recent Toyotas...thats why I went with a Frontier back in 2006...I got in the Tacoma and was just appalled by the quality and what you got for the $. Like GAFIT said, some Tacomas/4runners can be $50k!! Its ridiculous.

That is MIND BLOWING power for a 1.5L. That's closer to 2.0L boosted power.

Is there any difference if starting with a Sport like yours vs an Si other than the limited slip? LSD's are easy to add if that's all that's missing.

I'm guessing $6k total for turbo kit, Hondata, exhaust. What's your guess?

SI has a slightly stiffer suspension all around, larger rear sway, active damper system, moonroof, better front seats (more bolstering) and LSD. Oh and they have a higher boost map from the factory which is how they get 205hp vs my 190hp.

I think what you get in the SI vs the sport hatch is worth the extra $1500-2500 on the sticker price. I just didnt want a coupe or sedan. I'd take the moonroof, seats and LSD in a heartbeat though. Suspension I can stiffen, not sure I 'need' active damping. I'd likely just put in sport mode and leave it anyways.

There hasnt been anyone that has dropped an LSD in a non-SI yet. But seems to require LSD, Ring gear, axles and intermediate shafts, oil seals and possibly hub bearings out of a SI.

The PRL kit, which some with a bunch of stuff etc I'd say like $5k. Those numbers are with their 'eco' or basic turbo with cast wheel. They haven't tested their 'premium' turbo with the billet machined wheel or even the bigger turbo which is rated for 600+ hp lol.

The 27WON turbo...I'd say like $2500 since its just the turbo that fits in the stock place. Its a direct swap. Where-as the PRL is a kit.

PRL standard turbo kit will include:

· Choice of turbocharger w/ turbine housing(s)
· Wastegate actuator w/ associated hardware
· Turbocharger adapter flange
· Downpipe
· Heatshield
· Custom molded silicone pieces
· TurboSmart 34mm Kompact Plumb Back Recirculating Bypass Valve
· Hot side silicone pipe w/ silicone
· Stainless clamps
· Intake overpipe w/ PCV flange
· Cobra cold air intake adapter silicone (Race or Street)
· All gaskets and hardware needed for install
· Optional FMIC Upgrade Kit
· Optional Cobra Cold Air Intake System
· Optional boost controller

Sorry for making you type all that about the Sport vs. Si. I knew about the amenities. Was just wondering if there's a power difference at the end if doing all the upgrades to both. Sounds like the only advantage of the Si for a drag race is the LSD.

I totally agree about the body choices. We looked at the sedan, coupe, and hatchback and decided we only liked the hatch. No Si hatch means either going down to the Sport or up to the CTR. I can definitely see why you ended up where you did.

Ah no worries man. The SI power-wise seems to just has a different boost map than mine. Besides that, same stuff from my understanding.

So if I had the same map, they'd only have the LSD which would help put power down more effectively than my open-diff.

Saving my pennies for the tune. I feel that 240-250hp and 260-270ft/lbs will be a significant upgrade for me. I mean I have a blast as it is now, so can only imagine how much fun I'd have with moar powah!

Strange timing. My Honda salesman just called to let me know they have a blue CTR coming in late this week or early next. It's at the port now.

May have to go take a look at it. Never seen a blue one.

White, then Grey and lastly blue for me. I like the contrast against the black accent pieces. With black a lot of the lines aren't noticeable and it just looks bulbous haha. The red is just...'ok'.

Kenchan...part of me feels we are in the same age bracket...but I could be mistaken.

I'm gonna be a staggering 35 this year.

Friend just leased a new Jetta...not a fan...but I do like the Golf allroad haha.

And whenever I see a a4 or a5 wagon I'm in awe.

yah, im over a decade older mang..

i too really liked the old A4 wagons.. not the avant allroad ugly, but the street car ride height ones they use to sell. too bad americans associate wagons with the braidy bunch station wagon.
