The Official Blog from GD to GE to GK to GTI to R?
all good, they sent me a another one (not koyo, which I totally hoped for) and the car is up and running again. I'm just glad its over with, nothing I hate more than the feeling of coolant, dripping down your arms, and onto your arm pits =\
Happy new years to everyone, 2019 is gonna not suck!

Looks like the UPS guys drop kicked it. I bought a TYC rad from Amazon for my Miata. It was a Koyo brand & lucky for me it didn't get cracked on the way. At least Amazon is very good about returns. Sorry you have to go though the uninstall & shipping stuff.
Happy New Year Shinjari & Mike.
Happy New Year Shinjari & Mike.
We'll see about that haha
The moral of this story is never use amazon! :P
If there's one thing to learn from this thread it was the shared hatred of amazon by kenchan & I haha
Damn yeah I recall swapping the radiator on my EK Hatch and that was a cake walk. Ordered off fleabay or amazon I forget. Sucks you had to R&R it twice.
Life is good. On the research trail for the GF's next ride. I'm a numbers guy and we honestly need to get her in these cars and some seat time. Sure the car(s) may look nice in pics...but it can drive like shit or have horrendous blindspots etc.
So far Lexus has really caught her eye...like a IS or GS...or UX or NX lol. For me I like the IS exterior but hate the interior. I'm 'ok' with the GS exterior and love the interior lol. The UX is basically a CH-R with some more cargo room and less bubble shaped. BUT it gets similar MPG to her elantra and is basically the same size so that's a plus since she doesn't want a 'huge' car. That's her complaint about the GS is that its HUGE. Its barely 12" longer than her elantra. Anyways that's the hunt right now. Hopefully find something before spring.
I offered the civic and then I'd get me a AP1/AP2....we all know how that went LOL.
And go Chargers! Would be amazing to see Rivers goto the Super Bowl...but freaking Brady is in the way.

Thanks for the sweet project! She wants something 'new'. That'd be something I'd end up driving but I did end up sending it to buddy who was looking for a project car haha.

The kids these days are pretty neat, they seem to be fighting for good for themselves & others. I'll always celebrate that.
In other news, I washed the Fit! Be gone salt!
Oooh, shiny!
Thanks!
These need to be installed stat!
Also we tested a 2015 IS350 F-sport black with black interior. Also a 2016 ES300h. And lastly a 2016 IS200t f-sport White with red/black interior.
The is350 sounded and felt great. The es300h was insanely roomy and surprised us with how quickly it accelerated. The is200t was whisper quiet even when you were going for it. Had plenty of power throughout the powerband.
May be asking wtf would we try the ES? Well I was hell bent on getting her in a GS...but it has the same motor as the IS...just with a bigger interior. She figured if she was gonna get the 3.5L v6, it'd be in the IS. So if she was to consider a bigger car it better get good MPG, which is where the ES hybrid came into play with its 39mpg. She liked the interior and the power...but still felt it was a boat. She sat in the IS and it fit like a glove.
Both IS's were great. We likely wont buy either one. She doesnt want to deal with a black car again and while the 200t was a combo she liked....she kinda wants the 350. They both get the same MPG, the V6 sounds good vs the silent 4cyl, the 350 gets adaptive suspension depending on drive mode and the 350 gets the premium stereo. So now we just gotta keep our fingers crossed for the 'right' one.
I only drove the IS200t to compare it to my civic 4cyl turbo, GF drove all 3. Besides being a smoother/quieter ride...I felt that my Civic was a little more 'raw' to drive. Especially since its a manual vs the 8speed. However the paddle shifters on the IS worked pretty well. I did have to be mindful of my speed...I kept looking down while we were on the fwy and i was going 85-90 without even trying since it revs so low. Civic is at 3k going 80 in 6th.
I was kinda jealous at how smooth/luxurious the IS felt....but also comparing a 21k msrp Civic Sport hatch vs a 38k+ msrp Lexus. Civic is 800lbs lighter, gets 33mpg combined vs the 23mpg the IS gets. Win some and lose some.
Hope you guys are had a good friday and have a good weekend.

And yeah the GS and ES interiors were HUGE. I mean I opted to sit behind her during the test drives just to ensure people in the 5'11"+ range would be comfy. GF is a teeny tiny 5'2". Look at all this room behind her. And she's at a comfortable bent arms length away from the steering wheel. And this is the IS! So double that for the ES and GS lol. I have my legs bent and stretched out.
Also went to Wally world to pick up oil for the hyundai and soon Civic (minder is at 15%) and apparently they started to keep the mobile behind a locked case LOL. Wow.
Lol all $26 for 5US qts.
Did the oil change, spark plugs, air and cabin filter on the Hyundai. 236500miles. Need new front tires...Also washed and vacuumed.
Washed and vacuumed the civic. I swear the reason Honda can stay competitively priced is because they use the CHEAPEST or least durable paint imaginable. I notice 5 new rock chips in my front bumper. I only have 14k miles on this thing. Can only imagine what it'll look like when I hit 100k. Do I bother using the touch up pen? Its plastic underneath...
As for leg room, I think if I were to be sitting up front and someone was sitting behind me, yes they would still have a decent amount of leg room...but getting in is strained due to the seat back kinda being in the way unless the seat back is at a 90° angle lol. They'd likely rub their shoes/leg on the seat back. But once seated theres ample room. Definitely not for (3) adults in the back, but (2) comfortably. After washing the civic...brought up the 'itch' to want wheels for it.
