Hey guys!!

So...I finally got my VBP Fit Sport MT! I originally had my eyes on the civic si sedan, but seeing as to how this was going to be my first car I decided to go with the Fit tp save money. I love it, especially when I'm going around corners. Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself and if anyone has any advice or suggestions on what I should do, let me know! Thanks!

Welcome. If you don't already have them, floor mats and cargo cover to keep it like new.

You made the right choice on getting a Fit. You will love it.
Just take it easy for the first 600 miles on the engine and 200
on the brakes. And as for mod wise, oh boy, you'll find out as
you read on.

There's a local meet going down tonight if you're interested, just
read up on it in the SoCal section.

Congrats and welcome!

Woohoo, VBP ftw!!!

thanks guys! I do have foglights though, since I have the sport model. The dealer also threw in wheel locks for free! I noticed that the fuel door doesn't lock, has anyone had a problem with fuel being stolen? And I cannot stop staring at my car..vivid blue pearl is an awesome color, especially under bright light...

No one's had problems (i don't think) but the element locking gas caps do fit on the fit or you can get a generic brand from pep boys or some place like that

Congrads on your new Fit. The VBP is such a great color. Post up some pictures and throw some tint on that Fit! I test drove the Civic SI and to be honest I felt the Fit handled the curves better and just felt more hugging to the road.

The fuel tank is in the middle of the car so the filler neck is quite long. It would be nearly impossible to snake a tube all the way to the tank.

Yes...great minds do think alike haha I've been learning how to drive manual on my car at a parking lot of a local high school and its so fun driving around the light poles, its so responsive and coming from someone who occasionally drove his dads old minivan, I love it! Speaking of which, if any of you guys ahd any advice for someone learning how to drive manual, please tell. I've stalled a few times and I'm really afraid of hurting my brand new baby lol. I got the basics down, I just can't smoothly transition into first fast enough and Im having huge troubles going up an incline. But other than that I love my fit! I've already made use of "dirty mode"

I wish that I could give better advice than practice, practice, practice. The really good thing is that you want to learn and get better. Too many people just figure...hey I can drive and leave it at that.

Gas, clutch, and shift is ALL about timing. The Fit needs very little rpm to take off, but also has very little power. Once you get the hang of it you'll be able to let the clutch out at just over idle rpm and then feed throttle rapidly. Keep in mind that the throttle has a slight delay so always try to be one step ahead with the gas. That applies to both taking off in first and upshifts. You'll want to let off the gas a split second before pushing in the clutch to keep the rpm's from increasing between shifts.

Good luck!!!

yah, pratice is the only way. dont be afraid to make mistakes.

just be careful and know your limits while you're driving on public
roads.

smooth is key and your goal.

As with the above practice is key, btw this is coming from an ATS Fit owner. I was learning stick from a friend, got through one lesson and a few weeks later it died (old ford focus). I love my AT, but if I knew stick I totally would have gotten one. When I was shopping around for mine everyone had manuals, I waited about ehh 6 or 7 weeks after making the decision. I could have walked away with one from several dealers.

Still, I love my fit, it's my first NEW car and I baby it. Owning the Fit and being on this forum has taught me loads about cars and gotten me interested in cars generally (never had that influence growing up).

Congrats on this being your first car, take care of it.

I got my ATS with no extra frills other than the stock sport stuff, I've been adding them as I get the cash. I have the red interior trim (minus the door handle trim. I couldn't find it in Mred when I ordered and now all I see are full f'ing trim kits), the leather gear shifter & recently the bumper aplique. The future involves the door sill things, Mugen side window visors, & some silly racing pedals. Potentially I am a kind of interested in rims & the hatch cover ( i have a DIY thing going on right now, need to finish it before winter), but right now, thats a little bit out of my priority price range (freakin ambition and goals).

So thats my little welcome to FitFreak speach for ya. Stick around, this place is filled with great folks!
