Fit freak forums etiquette for newbies.

there has been alot of new users on the forums lately. some people have been getting annoyed with the way some of the new users handle themselves. please use this as a guide if you are a new member.

1. PLEASE SEARCH! posting a new thread should be a last resort to obtain answers to your questions. when you post new threads, its slows down the site and we all suffer

2. IF YOU DONT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DONT SAY IT AT ALL. fit freak is unique from other forums in the sense that we dont have many trolls and the all around attitude of users on this forum is a good one.

3. RESEPCT YOUR FELLOW FIT FREAKERS. this goes double for the first gen owners.

4. DONT COMPLAIN. if you have a gripe or a suggestion about how the site could be better, please write an admin or a moderator before you post a thread bashing how this site is run.

5. BE PATIENT. new owners want answers and they want them now. please be patient about parts that will come out for your car. if a manufacturer is going to make parts for your car, they will post on these boards or users will find parts and post links to them.

6. YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT WHEELS WILL BE ANSWERED IN TIME. there has been many threads started on requests for pictures of wheels on the GE8. the car is way too new for people to fulfil these requests, so please refrain from posting a thread asking how they would look because you will get what you want in time.

7. MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU ARE NOT POSTING A THREAD THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN COVERED. alot of users think that its a good idea to start a sighting thread about fit sighting or any "official" thread. this site has been around for a few years and i can almost guarantee, there is already a thread about what you want to start one about.

i hope everyone can understand and agree on this list. fitfreak is a great website. lets not let it go to crap.

agreed. but if you post your fit up and expect comments and/or suggestions, don't get whiny if someone doesn't like it as much as you do. everyone has different taste and different opinions.

i personally think the some of the gd3 guys have been bigger asses.

i do agree on the whole posting your car up and if someone doesn't like it don't get butt hurt about it.

BUT

if its a picture of a ge8 and you know you hate them, why bother clicking on the thread? abstination is intelligence. recklesness is ignorance.

but the newbie threads about the same thing are getting a little tiresome.

i agree with this too but there is a HUGE difference between constructive criticism and flaming.

example:

constructive criticism- your car looks nice but i would change this. it will make your car look better.

flaming- wow your car is ugly. you fail at life.

a bump is when someone posts in a thread to bring it to the top of the new posts search so people are more likely to read it.

ftw stands for "for the win". there is a thread about forum lingo in the fitfreak newbies section. check it out. there is some useful info in there for the newbs.

hope you enjoy the forums man!

yah, we dont want this forum to be some yelling competition between
two sophmores making the rest of us look like idiots.

place nice and fair...which includes searcing for answers first.

and dont take everything too personally, especially from me. im a easy
guy to get a long with, but i do tease at times... especially saiko since
he chose a girl's name.

happy motoring your Fit! 1st gen or 2nd.

I just found this forum, hence newbie, and in fact this is my first forum ever so please be patient and understanding since I barely have what it takes to reply to this. I had to sign up for a forum for my college class and decided it might as well be here since I own and love my fit. Any advice on why you like using this forum?(college made me ask) I have to agree with the fact that I am not a fan of the new look either, pictures do not help. I am content with my 2007.
