Talking My first new car ever!!

I have been lurking and reading the forums for a while, as I was making the decision about which car I should buy to replace my ailing (and now dead - the fuel lines just cracked open last Wednesday) hand-me-down 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier. I test drove a Fit and fell in love with it last July, but it took a while for money and circumstance to allow me to buy it, but I pulled the trigger yesterday! I walked into the dealer with all the research I had done and got my 2010 Fit Sport in Blackberry Pearl for the price I wanted without too much hassle at all.

I could hardly sleep last night because I'm so excited! I have to wait a day or two until they get it in from another dealership b/c they didn't have one on the lot in that color, but OMG NEW CAR!

Just figured I'd say hi because I'm going to be hanging out here asking questions and stuff. I'm already planning to do a few mods to the car that I've read about here, like the chicken-wire to protect the condenser and that spring gas pedal mod. I'm such a newbie at car fixing (I can barely check my oil) but I'm going to learn! Hi everyone!!

Congrats!

That is great news. You are starting off with a bright future because you are purchasing not only one of the best cars to drive, but also one of the least expensive cars to own. Keep us updated on how you like it!

Blackberry Pearl, it's the dark purple. The dealer tried to get me to go with tidewater blue because he was "losing money" on my sale but I wouldn't budge. And I'm happy I didn't. I can't wait I can't wait! I keep checking my messages for a call from the dealership.

Welcome aboard. And remember, the only "stupid" question is the one that isn't asked. Most people here are pretty friendly and willing to help.

I love the BBP color. Right now I'm so sad - I got my nails done and had them painted a similar color because I can't get my new car off my brain lol. I can't wait till it gets here! I have a bad feeling this is going to take a long time. Which is bad, because I'm driving around a rental in the mean time, which is expensive.

Anybody own two?

My wife bought a 2009 Auto Sport a year ago and I liked hers so much that I just bought a 2010 Manual Sport last week! Her's is Tidewater Blue, mine is Storm Silver.

Anybody have a detailed list of all the changes from 2009 to 2010. For one, the front ground effects on my 2010 are 5/8" taller than my wife's 2009. If anybody knows of the official changes, I sure would like to see them.

i am very jealous. I'm hoping to get rid of my own used car and get my self a new fit sport. i just joined fitfreak and im constantly browsing the forums and dreaming of the day i walk into the dealership to pick up my very own fit. Looking forward to no longer feeling the regret of buying a used car!

Backdraft, I'm almost dealing with the opposite. I mean, I know I made the right decision to get the Fit, but the little voice in the back of my head keeps telling me 'you should never buy a car brand new!' I took a long time to arrive at the decision to finally just let go of this whole idea of not 'paying for depreciation' or whatever it is people say to discourage people from buying new. About a good 8 months, in fact. But I wish I would have bitten the bullet earlier - I waited so long that my old car died and now I'm in a rental car limbo waiting for the new one to be delivered. :/

Congrats Steve. Suspension is the same, only answer that comes to mind, is the fact that an auto weighs more than a manual. Or perhaps your suspension isn't fully settled in yet.

I like your thinking. Those mods you mentioned were some of the most practical I've seen.

Take it one step at a time. There's loads of information already on the forum to help you with your GE8 - any questions just ask
