For GD/GE you need a JDM hood/fenders/bumpers/etc.,

Dredging this up a bit, sorry. I saw some really sweet OEM RS headlights on Ebay. JDM item code checks out and everything. They are HID and eliminate the little "wart" that are on the GE8 headlight assembly. I love them. But my read of the above is that I shouldn't be looking at that if I don't want to dive deep into a complete JDM front end update (ed. note - he does not).

If that's the case, does anyone know of any USDM compatible OEM or aftermarket headlights that look more like the link below?

True JDM lights will need to be re-aimed for a LHD vehicle.

I wonder, could you get a JDM headlight with the outer shell the way you want (ie, no "wart"), and then open it up to swap the main reflector with the OE headlight you have?

 

They are different sizes.

 

Interesting. That hadn't occured to me. The one's in the link are HID, though, so I wonder if the 'wart' is actually necessary for clearance and aiming on halogen bulbs. And the reason the RS HID ones get to be so clean looking is that it's different tech and can be focused differently.

Maybe I can find a broken GE housing that I can tear apart for research.

Would be cool is someone just made an aftermarket HID or LED housing with some upgraded looks.

 

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted and decided to go look around.

But who knows, as long as the mounting screws are in the same location, the reflectors could just be trimmed down to fit... maybe.

 

No. The JDM lights are VERY different in size and shape from USDM.
