DIY LED Dome light

So a couple weeks ago i was looking for LED dome lights and was not impressed with what was given to me as options. So i decided to order some high wattage LEDs. I ordered 5 x 1W, 5 x 3W, and 1 x 5W. I had a bunch of 55,000 mcd LEDs laying around so this is what i came up with. I've just got a prototype for now but i do have a few pictures of it on a breadboard and of it comparing to the stock dome light.

basic setup on the breadboard

Stock light

Mine

Both of the pictures were taken with the same aperture and exposure time to get a REAL feel for how much brighter it is, instead of letting the point and shoot take care of the exposure stuff. BTW, the LED used in the comparison picture is only the 3W... I'm scared to put in the 5W... they're $25 EACH!

let me know what you think!

OK, so you spent $25 on one 5W LED. What are you going to do with it, if not put it in the dome light?

I've gotta see if i can throw together a DIY that everyone can do. I've got resources that no one else that i know has access to, mainly a circuit board cutter. If i find a way to do it without a circuit board cutter i'll definitely post it up.

And God said "Let there be light" and there was light.

Can ya get a shot from the outside, doors closed, about 10 feet away. I wanna see if it looks like a lightbulb with wheels :-)

And I do the same thing with my Gatorade bottles because they won't fit in the damned cupholders!
