Will lighting void the warranty?

I can't tell if my dealer's being serious and Honda's being retarted, or if he's just blowing smoke up my butt because he wants to have his own shop do the work. I was going to install some LED strips in my Fit, controlled by a rocker switch attached to a junction box... and since I'm not a Honda certified mechanic doing so will void the warranty on my entire electrical system. Is this true? Don't feel like paying the $105/hr they're asking to do the install themselves.

yes it will void your whole electrical system warranty
battery, alternator
they will blame your bad install on the dead battery or dead alternator
yeah it sucks, but its true
they can be a dick about it
but hey, install it and dont tell them!
when you have warranty issues, take it off like it was never there before =)
they will never know =)

Won't the computer show that there was for a while a larger drain on the battery than normal? They have me paranoid about the big-brother box installed that records everything. Bah. I miss my old beater ('93 Accord). Since it was 12 years out of warranty I could do w/e I wanted to it and not care lol.

i dont know
but so what if there was a large drain in the battery?
be an "idiot" and say you dont know why there is, maybe thats the problem. the large drain = problems. lol
be like you have no idea what produced the large drain
and adding some leds wont cause any extra drainage really anyways.

Yeah. And I guess I can find a legit reason for the wiring holes... say it was for a head unit... those I'm allowed to install by myself without voiding anything, or at least so I was told.

headunit will void electrical warranties too
it will also void warranty on your dash panel or ac knobs and shiet like that

wiring holes? i doubt they will check that throughly for wiring holes.
warranty, mechanics get paid SHIET for warranty work, they rather just hurry up and warranty you a new battery than to find reasons to not warranty your car.
they get paid for flagging hours, not by the hour.
so if you do a decent install and unintall of your leds, you should be good to go. now if it was sloppy with broken panels and stuff like that, than you on your own.

I simply entered "voiding warranty" in the search box and found this, among many threads:

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gene...-warranty.html

Search is your friend.

I read a lot about your topic and found fellow FitFreak's threads VERY HELPFUL!

My reason to distrust stealerships: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/hond...nsburg-pa.html

Later...

Thanks that helped... one thing I didn't notice: If I can get a Honda certified mechanic to either do the work or sign off on it would it be covered?

Uh...That stuff IS OEM, is it not, and plug-and-play to boot.
Reread your post...NOT OEM...My error, but still...

You should see my fuse box!

man just mod it

lights wont void any big warranty issues anyways beside the battery and maybe alternator if you have a sound system. now unless you do a bad install and fry all your wires espcially your main wiring harness, than yeah, you ****ed. hahahaha

the main warranty issue you are really concerned with is the engine and transmission and probably suspension system and ac system.
