License Plate Bulb Cover: Easily Destroyed!?
License Plate Bulb Cover: Easily Destroyed!?
I needed to replace my license plate bulbs and decided to attempt such an act.
I was reading on the forums of the horror stories that other Fitfreaks had when removing the bulb cover, evidentally it's very very fragile.
So I figured I'd give it a try and when I followed the Honda directions (push the cover to the right), it came out with a little pressure, but so did the locking mechanisms that it uses.
So apparently, to Honda, in-order for one to remove these bulb coverings - they have to destroy them!?
I can't understand this, but now I have my license plate bulb coverings held in place by masking tape...
Does anyone have a remedy to this situation other than the extremely make-shift one I have right now?
Should I complain to Honda for this ridiculous in-justice?
Am I over-reacting? I mean - I follow the OEM instructions to remove the cover and it results in the destruction of the cover!
Do you think Honda would re-imburse this?
If anyone has any similar stories / remedies, please share!!
Thanks.

LOL yeah happened to me and I know someone else who broke is.
what i did was cut out little slits in the foam surrounds and place little tiny pieces of double sided mounting tape where i cut out at.
sits flush, never fell off. works perfect.

Great ideas guys.
Thanks for the feedback.
I think I'm going to call my dealership first thing monday morning - see if they can do anything about this injustice for free...
If not, I think I'll try your method: Drunkvabiker.
And in the future, I think I'm going to use your method: Saiko. Haha.

yep i broke mine too. only the right side. i did take it backk to the dealer and he replaced it under warranty. what i did when it was broken( it was going to rain that night) was i took plastic wrap and put it around the unit, then i took two plastic bags and cut the corners off to leave a triangle about 4 inches by 4 inches then pup the unit into the corner of the bag, wraped the edges around back then stuffed the unit back in. the plastic acted as the clip that broke off. and it stayed in untill i got my new part, with out any tape. and it was moisture retardnt. This was done with LED,s in place of bulbs. i think the heat from a bulb would be to hot. i hope this helps
