Mileage is probably a better measure of bulb life than time, since you're not using the lights when you're not driving :rotfl:.

I've had my XP bulbs for a year now, about 9,000 miles.

hobbes87 11-21-2010 07:44 PM

i put on 20,000 miles in 8 months. would the lamp burn out at that point?

clicq 11-26-2010 10:39 PM

So I guess I jinxed myself with the last post. This evening the low beam burned out, after about a year and 9,000 miles. The high beam filament is still OK (despite being used for the DRL). For now I'll probably put the stock bulb back in while I figure out whether to get the XP or the successor... I'm not entirely impressed with the bulb life :(.

Hmm, sorry to hear about that.

The same day I installed mine I disengaged the DRLs by pulling out the fuse...will be interesting to see how long mine last while not acting as DRLs.

Knock on wood, 14K miles on my crosstour and the bulb are still lit with no issues, so I'm happy. Like I said, I take much care on handling the bulbs when installing :)

ThEvil0nE 11-29-2010 11:53 AM

I'd still count the days, month or year for the bulbs, so i'm still far from 12 months :D

So H4 60/55W for the main headlights.

What about the Nokya yellow bulbs size/wattage for the fogs? Will the Nokya H11 55W work? Like these: Nokya Arctic Yellow H11 55W Light Bulbs | eAutoWorks.com

Yes, all that is what I'm using. As I recall, you may be able to find those Nokya bulbs for a better price somewhere else.

johnkimble 11-29-2010 01:37 PM

Awesome, repped.

Now I just need to find a good place to get everything. If any of you have recommendations feel free to post up.

They definitely have them, at least the last time i visited the Bolingbrook one they did. IIRC they ran out of the H4s for the xtreme powers but had plenty of the ge nighthawks and other high end bulbs.

Still looks a little purplish, but not as bad as others. I have Narva Range Power +50s, which should be as bright or brighter because they really don't have any blue stuff on them. See that blue band on the ones you posted? :)

cfran55 12-02-2010 08:55 PM

49.99 only had 9007 and h7 had a spot for 9006 but they were out. also had others! i dont know if i want to spend 49.99 on them thoe

kmart had ultra visions but no xtreme

ill have to check car quest tomorrow i was hoping they would be around 30

The blue band you are referring to is not even blue in color, it is more of ionized (I did explain what was it for on the post).
The Narva +50 can never be more bright as the Xtreme... Narva Rangepower +50 has less lumens than Philips Xtreme.
The purple-ish glow you see is only in pictures... notice the lights on the lamp posts on the car dealership? that's what happens if you capture a light source that gives off intense white (daylight) on a simple camera... outer shade rings of blue to purple

Cool! They look bright!

It's hard to tell the color temperature accurately from pictures, since it really depends on how the camera decided on the white balance.

Here's an example from my camera, which I took back before my bulb burned out, and the color looks totally different from ThEvil0ne's. I suppose the bulb was nearing the end of its life, but you can tell it's brighter and has a larger hot spot than the OEM bulb (which is installed on the passenger side for reference). The Philips XP bulb was a little whiter than stock, but it's not so huge that people would really notice. I also under exposed the picture to get a better shot of the light output.
