Lightbulb Philips X-treme Power... who should get it and why get it??? 65K WARNING

Been getting quite a few PMs on the Philips X-treme Power H4 bulbs so I'm doing this informative thread for that purpose.

I've had mine since July 2010. I have had no issues with the bulbs and all I can say is... best direct bulb replacement I've ever had ( I've had them all from no brands to PIAA and anything in between).

Before anything else... I would like to apologize first for crappy cellphone pics

Who should get it?
If you are looking for the best, brightest, most intense unfiltered white output from a direct replacement bulb... Philips X-treme Power is your bulb. No wire harness upgrade needed as this runs within stock HI/LOW wattage.

Wait! Did I just say UNFILTERED? So how do you explain this...? you might ask...

That is an anti refraction/reflection coating (notice the slight ionization) to produce a non glaring and well aimed and focused light path/pattern (see and refer to pics below).
It is in no way used as a filter to produce white light... got nothing to do with that.

If you're looking and want that bluish fake HID look... this is not for you.

Why get it?
Granting that you decided on the Philips X-treme Power and can't help asking the question...
"Yeah, why get it? What's so special about the bulb that you consider it the best?"
Because it's a pure performance oriented bulb. It emits the most intense whitest light amongst direct replacement bulbs. It does not use any of those BLUE TINT to filter the light so it can produce a whiter output. Key word is "filter" and when you filter light, you are robbing and losing candle power. Please use google to learn more about this filtering.

Where do I get the bulbs? How do I know which is legit? How much is it?
Go with reputable merchants... I would have gone with Autolamps-Online but they were out of stock at the time of my purchase. They have them now $33.00
If you have to go somewhere like ebay (where I got mine) you need to go legit. They price would be a telling... too good to be true low prices are usually knock offs.

Here's some pictures I took (yes I braved the rain yesterday just for you FFreaks on the succeeding images below LOL) so you can use as reference...
Note that the bulb inside the case are NOT Philips... they are the stock bulbs.

NO BLUE TINTS HERE...

NO FLASH AND WITH FLASH PICS. (already forgot which is which but you get the picture LOL)
The pics will also tell you what the anti refracting/reflecting coat does to the light beam... nicely focused and no obvious glare

So there you go... hope this helps

These are stock bulb replacements not a HID kit correct? I was looking for something exactly like this and $33 seems like a good price. I found them on Autolamps online plus free shipping. Do they have yellow fog light bulbs? I am only seeing blue(ish).

I will never use another bulb for a H4 application, these XP 80's are the best... The pics Thevilone took are enough to sell you on em, but after you drive with them!!!!!! These bulbs in my gd3 are better then some older not so good oem hid projector setups (audi b5 a4) $33 is a great price, I paid $40 for mine at Salvo. That is still cheaper then silverstar ultras...
Basic rule off thumb is a "BLUE COATED" bulb is going to rob you of output... And for the record E-code Silverstars are clear; Dot (American) are blue... here are some links about bulbs from Daniel Stern Lighting

I am an owner of these (for my '09 Fit Sport) since roughly 7 months ago. Things have been great. I love them.

I upgraded my foglight bulbs as well (similar to what is shown above) to some Nokya yellows that are stock wattage.

Thanks for the write up on Philips X-treme Power Bulbs.... I have had top of the line Sylvania bulbs that I got a good deal on years ago and they are doing fine.. I like to boogie on back roads with lots of deer wild hogs and other critters and with the recent upgrade of my KWSC to the High Boost kit I am realizing brighter lighting would be real nice to have.

They are really amazing bulbs. I ordered 2 different bulbs that time... Osram Night Breakers (not the Sylvania version) and the Philips X-treme . The Osram came in the mail 4 days earlier before the Philips. I thought I had it good with the Night Breakers... until I got hold of the X-treme. It was no contest in terms of light output, quality and intensity... Philips X-treme hands down

I installed the Philips X-treme bulbs in both of our FITs. We are very pleased with the increased illumination.

Are the bulbs from Autolamps online DOT legal? They are out of the UK and now I am like panicking thinking they may not be DOT approved. The bulbs are according to Philips but are the ones that Autolamps online sells legal for US use?

Yes, and as stated, these are street legal and are DOT certified.

BTW, I am using yellow PIAA bulbs on my fogs. Nokya are much loved alernative to the overated PIAA bulbs and are better value. Whichever you want, just make sure you get the same wattage as stock to save you some headache.

Okay I was just asking because the bracket on the light don't say DOT they say ECE and these are coming from the UK so I wanted to double check. How long does shipping usually take from Autolamps to the US?

Just a heads up for those that don't want to deal with shipping, I've also seen these carried at Meijer stores.

How about the Philips X-treme vision bulbs? They're supposed to outperform the X-treme power, according to Philips (Philips innovations making vehicles safer, more energy-efficient and more stylish), and the new bulbs are rated +100% compared to +80% for the old ones... though I don't know if they're worth the ~$15 premium over the x-treme power.

As with any burning filament... size matters. smaller filament tend to burn brighter and the hotter and would have shorter life expectancy. Philips with their +50 bulbs have been reported to see up to +/- 2 years... X-treme Power +80 would definitely be below that.

The bulbs are on it's 4th month of use on the FIT.... 7 months on the Crosstour and have not given any quirks or flickering. Honestly... I would be happy if I'll hit past 1 year on them. I handle my bulbs properly when installing so I'm pretty confident that they'll live to their maximized lifespan.
