PIAA Super Plasma GTX Headlights :)

Just ordered a pair of these bad boys. Found a pretty good deal online. Paid 70 bucks WITH shipping for 2. The H4 is a dual high/low in one bulb right? Il take some before and after pics when they show up so that anyone whos looking for high performance lighting can check out the difference.

Should make a big difference in brightness (going by these #'s)

H4 Wattage: 60/55w = 135/125w 5000K Low Beam 4200K

any time i see a color coated bulb, i will disagree that the that the output of light is greatly increased. a color coated bulb will absorb more light than a bulb of equal specs that has a clear bulb design.

i do believe however that the life expectancy of the bulb will decrease due to higher operating temperatures resulting in a greater need to change the bulb. any time a bulb has to absorb some frequencies of light, the temperature will increase.

I've never seen a non-HID lightbulb that looks great. They usually look cheap and burn out way faster than stock bulbs, but hopefully these ones are an exception. When you are installing them, make sure you dont touch the actualy bulb part.

PIAA's are a better quality brand than most other Pep-Boy specials. Make sure to post NIGHTIME before and after shots.

anyone who knows anything about lighting knows that PIAA makes very, very high quality products. These things normally retail for $100 for 2. My friend has these on his Evo, and the light is BRIGHT! The color is white with purple glow around it. The reason I ordered these is because I asked him, "evos come with stock HIDs?" and he said "no, these are PIAA bulbs." He told me they were expensive, but its some of the best lighting you can have.

i guess we'll see when i do my comparison. The stock H4s in the fit are ok, but i'd put my money on these PIAAs being brighter. I might not have bought them if i hadnt seen them in person first.

I have these installed in my Fit, they are super fabulous...closest thing to HID, very expensive indeed...I had a deal, bought mine for only $65 for a pair...can't beat that, I guess my ultimate goal is to do a real HID retro, but this will work for now, I have to say very BIG difference in look and output, I will try to get some pics...

my only concern with brighter, higher wattage bulbs is cooking the wiring and harness. Higher temps and more current can wreak havok in there. I just got my Fit home and haven't driven in the dark yet so we'll see how that goes.

I have seen some causes where aftermarket higher wattage bulbs actually burns the inner coating of the head lense, causing a hazzy look. Are these bulbs safe? I guess we won't know the long term outcome.

Yes a evo 8 or evo 9 comes with stock HID's, however PIAA also does make a upgrade bulb for the D2S or the D2R bulbs for cars equipped with HID's.

I run Silverstars in my Tiburon, and they are a bit brighter and whiter than the stock H7s that were in. They didn't last as long, though. Right at about a year, and both of my low beams went (H7s) and one of the fogs (9006) blew within a week of eachother. (I also did go on a long ass overnight roadtrip, so they were on for many hours at a time)

Went back to the stock bulbs for a while, until I saw some H7 Silverstars cheap at WalMart.

I've got the PIAA Xtreme White's in my head & foglights on my Fit and so far they're quite nice. Output is good and they're quite white compared to the originals. Only time will tell how they hold up. I had a set of Silverstars in my old xB, and they were similar though maybe a touch brighter. Those were going strong still after a year and a half, so I had no complaints with those either.

I bought these bulbs in Feb. 08' and installed them about a few weeks after purchasing my GD3. Its now 12/13/08, and the left bulb has already burned out. I usually only turn them on at night, but occasionally during the day for safety reasons.

Is this the normal life expectancy of this bulb? Would I have had better results with the other PIAA bulbs or another brand? I thought the PIAA bulbs ran at a lower voltage than some other brands out there like Raybrig.

Should I expect the same life for the fogs? These bulbs are pricey. I may go back to stock until I do a JDM conversion with HID.
