Yellow corner lights as DRL?

I disabled my DRL by pulling the associated fuse, and was thinking I'd just run w/ the yellow parking lights on.... or whatever they're called. Unfortunately they're pretty small, dim bulbs. Does anyone have any thoughts about how we might get those suckers bright? I know some GM cars have those as the DRL's:

I'm not too worried about the wiring... mainly about the bulbs... any thoughts?

Actually - thinking about this a little more... We have three lights in each cluster, the headlights, the turn-signals, and the parking-lights. The turn-signals are yellow and very bright. The parking-lights are yellow, but less bright.

Maybe I'll take a look at what's going on there and swap the blinkers for the turnsignals... so the turn-signals will be powered by the parking-light circuit and the blinkers will toggle the little yellow parking lights... hmmmm....

thoughts?

I changed out my OEM corner light bulbs to PIAA Plasma Ion Yellow ones. They're pretty bright.

I use MTK 8w replacements. Definitely brighter than piaa plasma 5w. No heat issues.

Another option you could do is mod your turn signals. http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/6404/dsc0232medium.jpg
Replace the socket to accept dual filament and wire to run DRL. The sockets can be found all over ebay.

This is my solution and works for me

I bought here

NEW! Free shipping 2pc/lot LED car T10 cree 50W ,sliver case high power car led T10 reverse ,tuning light led,T15,H1,H3-in Light Source from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com

The light is very brilliant, now running for one week and everything is OK

The bulb touch a little bit the plastic on the headlight, however the heat on the leds is not enough to melt them, I'm pretty sure

Any issues with heat and it touching the inside of the headlight cover? I want to do this but with amber color.

The color of the LED shouldn't affect the amount of heat that little bulb produces.

I think yellow color produces less heat, don't know exactly may be an expert can confirm.

However if you're thinking to use as a DRL the small corner lights is not a good idea in a SUNNY day

In my case, those small but powerful LEDs produces a lot of heat, but until now the Headlight Assembly is not melted, so I think it will resist without any issue.
