Is this the 'ambiant' light kit that goes in the foot wells and the under the A/C controls?

I have been looking for it as well, and it is mentioned on the Honda.ca website, but I cannot find it at any of the online retailers. If I remember I will check with my Honda dealer here in town (Calgary) on Thursday and let you know what I find out.

Oh yeah, Honda.ca says it comes in red, orange or yellow. I would hope that there would be blue so it could match the dash lighting!

Also.. there are two little LEDs where the cup holders are.. does anybody know a way to make them brighter? I also wounder if it will just go directly into the US model w/out any mods just as if it were going into a Cad. model..

I'm intersted too. i googled (hard, this genre to find) and I like this site. i might buy one tube then another

http://www.urban-neon-car-lights.com...&cat=10&page=1

I hate the canadian option cuz 1) 100$ 2) i'm US 3) its uneven. u can tell they eminate from a bulb. the tubes are more even
They have 4 of them, but i think the link i just posted is the best one
http://www.urban-neon-car-lights.com...ome.php?cat=10

I might buy a red one. I'm still thinking. if i like it, i'll get the other one for passenger side.

Frys Electonics has Cold Cathodes that last longer and are brighter than Neons.

is it easy to convert computer cathodes to work w/ a car?

2) how are LEDs? cathodes/neons might be too bright for my car. i actually prefer subtle lighting. LEDs do cost more

PC output is 12vdc. So you can hook it up to the car no probs. I have a friend who can make a chip for me to make the lights dim on and dim off when you close/open the door. Some time in a few months I'm going to get him to help me out on that.

Also, if the lights are too bright, you can always cover it with window tint or some sort..

iu don't know much about cathodes or electronics, but LEDs, i can cut one wire, and stick a resistor in between to dim correct?

do u know if cathodes/neon can do the same trick w/ the resistor to dim it? also, when u mean its compatible, u mean if u access the internal wiring right (as opposd to cig lighter)?

Yes you can use a resistor but it has to be the right one. I totally forgot which one it was too. Then you will have to find something to mount the LED's on like a long circuit board. I think the LED's will be easy to do. I might have to look into that.

Any 12v source for the cathodes. Most likely you're gonna have to find your own 12v+ power source.

not sure what u mean by circuit board, but u can buy LEDs lined up as a bar. http://www.urban-neon-car-lights.com...ome.php?cat=12

Oh i thought u were going to wire up your own LED lights...

In that case, those LED bars will probably work just as the same as the neons and cathodes.

what are the pros/cons of the LED? i notice LEDs are cheaper. which drains more energy? which is brighter? which lasts longer? are LEDs "polkadot"ish or are they even after a distance?

LEDs use less current, brighter, and last for a very long time. I've never had anything that has LED lights where the lights went out.

I don't know about the polkadotish look when the lights are on. But from under the dash pointing down, I think the LEDs difuse when it hits the floor. So the beam of light should be equal.

I think i'll change my mind and use LED lights. Install it and forget it about it. Cathodes and Neons do go out, Neons go out faster than Cathodes.

That's exactly what I want to do to mine. But I want it to dim off/on just like when you close the door and the inside lights dim off.

i did some looking at my fit the other day after reading this thread and thinking it sounded pretty cool. and i'm wondering, is that actually a light we have in ours or just the excess glow from the center console (temp, fan, etc.)??? if you change that to blue or whatever, will it affect the appearance of these things?

You can get it from College Hills Honda...

Shouldn't be that hard to install...just need to wire it up to the dome light, that way it'll fade in and out itself.

The kit is actually set up on a switch so you can turn it on or off whenever you want...
