Headlight Swap!

Ok so I've had this idea since before I even ordered my Fit (which i just did on Friday, Silver Sport Manual). I knew that i wanted to change the color of the headlights (to black) and so I went through a lot of trouble calling dealers and asking if I could get it from the factory with the nighthawk black headlights instead of the storm metallic silver ones. No. Honda doesn't mix and match like that. So then i thought i'd have some body shop just paint em. Asked a dealer about that too and got told the headlights are sealed. Couldn't get and JDM aftermarket headlights cause they wouldn't be compatible. So i decided i'd need the replacement parts. Problem: they cost a lot.

Solution:

My brother in Savannah GA (i'm in Chicago) has a Black Fit! Now when i first pitched him the idea i thought he'd shoot it down, but to my suprise he liked it. So i made these mock up photos to show how it'd look. Anyways, can't wait to see the actual finished product. Here's the pictures:

What my brother's will look like:

I think your brother will be holding the short end of the stick. But if he likes the silver headlights then more power to him.

I'll try an find the link later, but i'v herd of the EP3 and DC5 guys puting their headlights in the oven to melt the glue and then take it apart and spray paint the inside. It looked pretty good, but I did not have the courage to put my headlights in the oven.

I also think that if the black fit with the silver lamps did some sort of side graphics in the silver, tied them in with the lamps whould look good as well. But I think that black fog light surrounds would also be needed with the silver with black headlights.

I hope this doesn't mean the black Fits are going to be popular for headlight theft...

Me, my car is Lunar Mist. I want white/light grey headlight buckets.... Probably from owning several European spec Citroen DS cars earlier in my life....

I am pretty sure you can swap them out. If I remember correctly they are the same part number just with different color codes on the end of the part number.
I will check the catalog tomorrow!!!!!!!!
I hope my black headlights don't get taken!! Ouch!!!!
Get to swappin'!!!!!!
