Dome light questions. Again.

Hi first post.

Ok, my sig. other has a 2008 Honda Fit Sport with a dome light that dims when the door is shut. This dome light has burned out several bulbs, and she finally gave up and bought a LED light she has hanging from the dome light fixture so she can see when she digs for stuff at night. I haven't been able to do all the checks like fuse quality and loose or bad connections so I still have to do that, but this was since the car was new. First one burned out at around 10 thousand miles and not one since has lasted more than a month. I have searched and found most of the ideas about not touching bulbs and checking fuses and contacts and plan on doing that first.

EDIT: I believe the car is a 2008. It was one of the very last of the first generation.

Being a mechanic for a few years (15) I, of course, have to fix it. So my plan is to install a bright LED light in the dome, run a relay from the switch at the dome light to allow for other lights to be switched along with the dome light. That way she can turn them on while she digs. This shouldn't be a big problem.

The main thing I want to know is how the dimmer function will effect the relay and the LED light on top.

If it wont work, is it possible for the dealership to disable the feature?

Also, what are some good brands of LED lights that I can look into?

Thanks!!!
