Lets Talk Touch Screen Decks!

With the new Scosche Double/Single din kit coming out,, I thought bout trying a LCD touch screen DVD/CD/MP3 player. XM, sirius ready? I never had one before and I thought it would be cool to try one.

Since my wife works at Best Buy, I will check out and see what Best Buy carries.

*Dual
*Kenwood
*Alpine
*Pioneer

I was just looking at a Alpine IVA-W200 for Single dins. Looks good.

Pioneer has a slide out type touch screen, Model AVH-P5700DVD. Price difference is about $100 retail.

Kenwood DDX6019 - $200 less.

Dual brand, I have no idea about this brand.. Probably won't even think about it..

What you guys have in mind?

Just checked the prices on these and they start at $700-800? I wish I could drop that kind of money on an audio/video setup in my car.

i have a w200 in my truck. i like it. i have it hooked via fiber optic cable to the H701 processor that gives me total control of frequencies to each of my components and a 31 band eq to each each speaker! oh and time alignment. 5.1 surround. lots of stuff.

i may replace it with a w205 that has blue tooth. hmmm i can put that in the honda then. lol

I love that HU. One friend have it on his truck, and I would buy one for my Fit. Amazing features.

Looks like a good deal for the price. Plus it has navigation which is something I really want. If you got the cash, the Avic Z1 or Z2 looks awesome. Built in 30 gig hard drive stores all of the maps rather than being DVD based and you can store MP3's on the drive as well.

I think MSRP is like $1000? Street price should see $900-950. Seriously....you'll never beat that in a BRAND NEW, UPDATED and comparable system. Some portables aren't even that cheap.

Has anyone seen the AVIC-D3 available for purchase yet at the retail level in the States?

Alright, I just Pre-ordered the Alpine W205 for $1299 Cad, not sure that is a good price or not. With the Amp, Speakers, Cap, 10" Sub all with Alpine line cost me around $3000. Not sure if I should stick with the Stock speakers or not. I will post some pics here once I have it installed.

Thanks guys for some tips

I love the Alpine unit. I'm quite sure that's what I'm going to go with as well. It's definately the fastest iPod interface available (from what I've been able to tell), has incredible features, and the Alpine quality is second to none.

so does the DVD player shutoff when you put your car in gear? I heard somewher that now days with DVD players up front, it'll shut off if you put the car in gear.

Kevin L: I think the stock speakers are just fine. I turn my bass up on the amp just a bit and turn down the bass on the stock stereo so that no bass comes out of the stock speakers. Just treble. And it sounds good. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't upgrade to components.

I thought about getting components. I'm a die hard rockford fan. And the wife works at Best Buy so we get good deals. That's probably what I'll shoot for if I ever think about putting door amplified speakers in.

Does anyone know the difference with the 200 and the 205?

I asked the installer about the stock and the after market Speakers, he told me to wait until the Head Unit (HU) comes in and test it out first. I also heard that the Stock speakers are good, but the HU is not.

TomiGunz, You can find out more about the W200 and W205 below.

I'm so torn now. The D3 is a great price but only having one optical drive so you have to switch back and forth between your navi DVD and music CD's is a huge turn off. The W205 looks awesome with the removable navi but I'm wondering what that combo is going to cost? I need something that is wife-friendly price wise to get her to buy in on it.
