For all you prospective Fit musicians out there.

Well, I've had my Fit for almost a year and I'm really impressed especially with the magic seats. I was going to post pics of how it handles all my gear, but I think the feature to upload pics is different now than the last time I posted. They are in my blog and can be viewed at the link below along with a little one year review of my Fit experience.

I've been extremely happy with this car. It's fun to drive and my last fill up was over 37 mpg. Thank you, Honda. This car was designed perfectly for the gigging musician.

The Fit is indeed a great car for the gigging musician. It swallows my upright bass complete with stool, amplifier, and assorted stuff easily. It can carry as many guitars and amps as I would ever want to take to a gig, and it can even carry a fully assembled pedal steel guitar behind the front seats (although I wouldn't recommend carrying one in this fashion).

Gotta go, off to a rehearsal!

I could probably fit my full stack, head and guitar (in a hardshell) in my car.

Too bad I'm not playing out at this moment.

Fit for gigging

I haven't had a gig since I bought my fit (I still have less than 150 miles on it) but the capacity to easily haul my amp, cabinet, big box of lighting gear and a couple of basses was a big part of my decision to get the fit. No more driving to a gig with my cabinet buckled into the passenger seat for me.

Great voice, by the way... I really like "Slippery Road." (Which I supoose is a great soing for a car forum...)

My son plays bass in an orchestra, so I had to have something big enough to haul me, him, his bass and stool to rehearsals.

We all fit in the FIT

I'm a drummer, since I changed my drum in december, I had to change car 'cause my new drum doesn't "fit" in my civic. So I decided to change for the Fit, and I love it !

When I'm waiting in the car (my girlfriend is always late), I drop off the back seat, plug my guitar in the auxiliary input and pump up the volume

Cool. This is one of the reasons why the Fit is go for me. Lots of room for my synthesizers!

I'm definitely getting some tint when I get my Fit. Not only for looks but also as an added security measure.

Thanks, glad you liked it.

Most of the time, I don't bring a keyboard, so, I use the rear with the seats flipped up. It makes it so much easier to get my PA in and out of the car. It's hard to believe there can be huge area like that in such a small car. I really don't think there's that much more room even in larger SUVs.

hey buddy i dont have a fit yet but this is one of the reasons im looking at buying one we have 2 guitars 2 mic stands 2 large ams a full drum set and a pa system to haul around and at the moment we have an eclips a mini truck and a escort lol so everytime we gig we have to take 3 cars it sucks lol but the magic seats were appealing for that reason so thanks for the post

as my login name says - I play a lot of tuba around Northern California. I got my Fit because of the storage flexibility (and decent, but not great milage.) I can get a tuba or sousaphone, several smaller horns, a banjo and 3 or 4 other musicians to a gig without too much difficulty.

Also, a bit off topic, my not small dog (60 lbs.) really likes the flat floor and visibility when I take her on a ride. All I need now is a good, simple fence or barrier to put behind the front seats so she can't climb into the front. Has anybody tried this one? http://tinyurl.com/3d6vlq ( www.drsfostersmith.com product )

Alright! I am a musician and bought the Fit primarily for it's awesome amount of cargo space and equally impressive gas mileage with that kind of room. I drive to gigs all over the east coast, and previously had a '03 Ford Escape SUV which was really hurting me in MPG. The fit almost has the same amount of room in the back and gets twice the MPG!

Nice pics! I recently fit a Marshall half-stack, my full 5 piece drum kit (including hardware and cymbals), 1000 CDs, AND my bass player in my BOM sport! We then traveled from NYC to VA beach for a bunch of weekend gigs. I never loved a car more than I did that weekend! We struggled a bit up hills, and I could have never done it if my baby was lowered, but it was a dream come true!.
I wish I took some pics, but we were in a bit of a rush!

Plug alert!:
Check out my band, Clyde at www.myspace.com/clyderocknyc ! Rock from NY!

I fit a jazz trio of upright bass, a small bass amp, saxophone, and drums, (and the 3 players of course), without even losing my rearview visibility. I fit upright bass, electric bass, a big bass amp, drums, guitar and a small guitar amp and 3 people too, although we really had to pack creatively that time (still nothing in anyone's lap or at their feet though).
35 mpg, and two other people chipping in for gas and bridge tolls. What better way to get to the gig?

I am very curious as to how you fit in the upright bass and other stuff and still have room for 3 people. Don't you have to fold the front passenger and right side passenger seats to fit in the bass?

Yeah, I'm a little curious about that myself. We are talking about an acoustic upright double bass, right? I can wedge mine in so that the neck is between the front seats, almost up to the dashboard, and only have to fold down the right rear seat, but even that's a too cozy for comfort. Usually, I fold down the front seat back as well. But carry 3 people, and a bunch of other instruments, too, including drums? I'd like to see a photo of that...

My son's full size bass requires us to lower both back seats to insert it and then raise the driver's side back seat if we need to seat a second person in the car.

I've done a few gigs since I got my fit just over 2 months ago. Lotsa room.
I haven't really pushed the boundaries, but I easily fit a 4x10 bass cab, a 6U rolling rack case, my bass, 2 mic stands, and 3 bags o' cables and such. I wasn't even close to creating a blind spot and there was still room for a back-stage betty in the front seat.

The magic seats were a selling point for me on the fit.

The fit was the best mix of cargo, gas economy, and affordability (is that a real word?) for me.

Ya, acoustic upright bass. I've put 3 uprights in so far, and they all fit about the same. The bass reaches a bit less into the front than an arm rest would. I have the driver's side back seat down, with the bass on its side, and the bridge facing left. I'm curious if you guys have tried this configuration. I definitely don't have a feeling of wedging.

@Traugh: By "full size" do you mean 4/4 size? (Most upright basses I've encountered are 3/4).

And yes, I swear the drummer and the saxophonist kept remarking how pleased they were not to feel cramped.

I'll take pictures the next time I load a trio.
