honda antenna adapter

Stupid question but just need to ask for peace of mind. Have the honda antenna adapter and it comes with a blue wire for the power antenna lead I would suppose. Do we need to connect this blue wire to the power antenna lead of the aftermarket radio in order for this adapter to work properly? I would think no as we do not have power antennas on the Fit. Just want to make sure though, not recieving a good signal and wondering if not hooking up this lead is why. Quick responses would be appreciated so I know if I have to tear that damn dash apart once again lol. Thanks....

we don't have a "power antenna" per se, but it is an amplified antenna, If you don't hook up the blue wire you'll get pretty much NO AM radio..and FM reception won't be so great

thanks, will get right on that, should have known better but thought it was just a universal adapter and was made for some hondas that have actual power antennas, oh well, have to go in there and reposition the screen anyway so no big deal. hope that fixes the reception issues. sure it will just wish I asked ahead of time , now have to remove the shrink wrap off all the wires and do some soldering again is all.

blah blah blah

for those of us who would like a straight answer on where to connect the antenna booster lead, which MUST be connected to use the radio....

The Blue wire from the powered antenna harness should be connected to the remote turn on/power antenna/amp turn on lead of the new head unit, it will sufficiently power the antenna booster; IF you don't have one of these connections, splice into the 12 volt switch on the ignition not the 12 volt constant/memory.

This applies to all newer Honda models.

Experience. I've had to deal with all this stupid useless information on these forums without an answer to the question, So I had to do it myself to my 2010 insight and see if it worked.
