removing the head unit

Hello, New member here. I have been a member of the element owners club for a while and I hope this one is as helpful. I have an 07 fit sport. My son just finished shoving pennies into the cd player. I am looking for instructions to remove the head unit so I can clean it out, but I haven't found much. Any help would be appreciated.

PM me your email.. i can scan and email the instructions later this evening.. i got them from crutchfield..

basically if you want to try doing it.. there's a bottom screw under ac controls.. undo screw and pry off underneath cover.. from there.. there's two screws.. on the left and right that are deep when looking underneath.. undo those..(they attach the radio unit to brackets) then go for the glove box.. pry off cover underneath the glove box, take off two screws on bottow of glove box hinges.. undo three cables coming from ac controls.. there like blue orange purple? you would squeeze the white plastic tip and pull off cable circles.. and then pull to remove metal clip holders..(that was easiest for me.. one of the three cables does require you to unscrew a bold/screw to pull it off..

nows the bitch.. there's these metal clips.. around the radio unit.. tight as f***.. if you can get two people to pull, probably better.. i wouldn't!!! recommend using a screw driver to pry, it's too tight.. it'll just eat up your dash and radio at the corners.. me i pulled from the bottom.. which is still kinda risky.. after the fact.. i saw a picture that tells you to push from behind reaching in from the glove box area.. using a socket tool.. so probably get one person to do that.. and one to pull from the bottom.. it'll pop out with some clips flying.. after that.. there will be some cables from the radio.. to detach.. and then your cables for the passenger/etc airbag light.. and ac controls.. from the bottom.. crutchfield.. didn't show this step properly.. pm again your email and i can send instructions in afternoon.. going to getty right now.. byebye!

Mike,

I just got done doing this, soujiro is right...it really feels like you are going to break something pulling the head out. If you haven't gotten the instructions yet, here's a link to the installation instruction for the discontinued "Music Link" which give you the Honda instructions. http://www.bernardiparts.com/Images/..._musiclink.pdf

I found starting at the bottom right and working my way around counter clockwise rather than pulling straight out to be helpful.
