How can I hardwire to the fuse box? I just bought a Cobra detector, and the power cord is the standard 12V DC to a small plug that connect to the unit. Can someone please explain how to wire it up?

hmm, well for the V-1, it had a tap in wire included. i powered my V-1 by tapping into the wire that goes to the 12v adapter socket, tapped it right behind hte socket instead of under the steering wheel, coudnt be sure where the wire goes. if your ok with risking your cable, you can cut off the big adapter plug and open the wire, it should reveal a positive and a negetive/ground. tap the positive to the adapter and using a ring terminal (i think thats what its called) bolt that down using one of the existing bolts on the firewall. hope that helps. n its not my fault or fitfreak.net's fault if u mess it up, your choice to do it

P.S. i hope it wasnt one of those cheap cobras...

Cool, thanks. I'll have to try that.

It wasn't cheap. Acutally it was the most expensive Cobra detector Best Buy had. It was like $180, it does 360 degree monitoring over 15 channels. I don't know how good it will be, but I wasn't gonna spend 400 on the V1, which i really wanted.

If you unscrew and take apar tyour 12v plug you can get access to the 2 wires in there easily.
