Shift Knob Cozy

So, the Blox weighted knob is solid metal. In the winter, it gets so cold it feels like it burns my hand. In the summer, it gets so hot it nearly burns my hand. I have found a solution!

It was a wrist sweatband. My mom sewed one end closed and then I folded it like a sock. Works like a charm.

My knob has a hat. Y'know, protection. "Knob condom"

I measured the temperature of the knob the other day. It was 106F at the surface, after I drove about 15-20 minutes from school with the windows up and the AC on. O_O I'd imagine it gets as hot as 120F when it's sitting in direct sunlight.

Just get a 6 inch long wrist sweat band (like below) and sew the top up. It's nothin' fancy :P

or get a resin shift knob, they don't conduct heat really. razo makes them and so does monster knobs.

i had that same problem when i had my skunk2 knob. I always took it off when i left the car so it doesnt happen. When i left it in my car i just used my North Face beanie and covered the whole shift knob and boot Now i sold it and i dont have that problem anymore. I got the J's knob now and it doesnt have any problems in any weather

Just FYI - infant/baby socks work as an alternative. I have a St. Patrick's Day baby sock on my knob right now.

Also---iPod nano socks work as well...really well.

And I used a plain black wrist band (short one) for a while...slides down over the shifter when not in use and although they don't cover the top, it helps out with the heat TREMENDOUSLY.

I've used both...I like both...I think I like a plain black wristband better--easier to store--just slide down.

Hmmm. Has it ever come off while you were performing a gear shift?

Nope, never has. It's quite a snug fit.

haha tight. Yeah my skunk knob either gets really hot or really cold. Sometimes I put the micro fiber bag that came with my sunglasses over it. I also have a blitz knob that has no problem in weather but it doesn't give me the weighted feel.
