Question Bluetooth?

Any way to add it in?

I mean... there's a way... but one that will look like it's OEM?

And... while we're at it...

What about one of those Start/Stop buttons?

Is there an aftermarket way to rig one of those things up (for complete keyless operation? Not just installing a button so you have to do one more step to actually get your car on....)

Bluetooth:

You can get a bluetooth headunit. That isn't really OEM looking though. Another option is to get a bluetooth module. You can hook that up to the OEM radio, but then you need to figure out where to mount the module. The module has a display for caller id.

Start/Stop button:

Shouldnt be a problem. I dont know how to do it, but I dont see any technical issues with it.

Pioneer has a bluetooth addon now which fits all their head units.

Umm...
Wait...

So... the sport model comes with a pioneer stereo?
(I'm still working on getting the one I want... the dealership was expecting it today but it didn't get there )

If so, that'll make things really simple.

If not... yeah... there's bluetooth things you can add in - you just have to figure out where you want to put the ugly buttons.

And... speaking of buttons - volume controls on the steering wheel...
That's a BIG job, isn't it?
I guess I'll let that one go for a while...

Thanks

Even if the OEM stereo was made by Pioneer, I doubt the bluetooth addon would work. Those are usually for the aftermarket style head units.

Our ones are noname made in mainland China and the optional in glovebox 6 stacker is a rebadged Alpine as the stacker is in most Hondas.

Bluetooth is an option in Europe!

And according to http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/ (under parts, Fit, etc.) the factory headunit is made by Alpine.

If Alpine makes the radios in Europe, odds are the Bluetooth simply plugs into the radio harness and does it's thing!

Yeah, someone needs to see if the Euro Bluetooth module is compatible with the NA headunit.

It seems like you can only use that one to receive calls though....

A UK dealer is mailing me installation instructions for the UK bluetooth module. I am going to post it so that Fit Freaks can advise if they think it is compatible. Should be here any day now.

How does it do that? Does it have voice recognition or something?

I would almost guarantee that the stocker is not a no-namer. Honda has a history of using good stuff- just built by somone else- could be Alpine, Kenwood, Clarion, etc. Just have a listen to the stereo's in a Toyota compared with a Honda. The honda is always cleaner if you are comparing apples to apples. (Not a corolla to the S2000, and not the Avalon to the CRV) I'm sure it's not bobo- Maybe not the high end, but not cheap.

The three button module switch will allow you to complete multiple functions.

Pressing the buttons will allow you to:
Answer, search, increase/decrease the volume, mute a call, transfer a call, redial the last number, active voice commands and enable or disable the system.
Would be cool if it worked with our head units.

According to the Part number style its a Panasonic/Matshushita unit. Which also explains the 8 disc CD Changer availble to the EU and JDM markets.

I would have to see the install guide for the EU BlueTooth kit to figure out if it would work here. Chances are if the plugs match up for the 14 pin AUX connector on the back of the radio it will work.

I am checking with one of my suppliers who offers a Pionner Changer/XM OEM integration kit for several 'newer' Honda's with the 14 pin plug. Ill let you know more when I know

Since our head units are't compatible with the steering controls offered in other markets, I'd be surprised if the Honda Bluetooth accessory would.

My cardealer say there are a new headunit in the European Jazz, it is now a Pioneer unit (was Alpine in the 2006 models). He also said that they had to send back a lot of Bluetooth OEM units because they where faulty or they stop working after a while. So they did not want to mount a OEM Bluetooth unit in my car because they know I will get in trouble with it. But they would help me by installing any other Bluetooth unit from a local carstereo specialist.

I'll have a look on those units next week, but will probably install them myself.

Before I have seen any of them, will I have any trouble finding one that fits? I'm thinking if it is going to be mounted on the steering wheel somehow, is there any space there to mount it? There are light and wiper controlls, paddles for the CVT shifting, buttons on top of the steering wheel for radio control (I think, not sure since the picture I've seen was for the Alpine unit, maybe there aren't remote controll for the Pioneer unit?). Are there any space left for a Bluetooth remote controll unit?
