I wonder if I can get the knob made into a skull with holes drilled for blue eyes and green teeth and a hole drilled for the wire. The boot can hide the power wire.

can you see if you can swap it out with someone else's shift knob...say an OEM knob for instance and see if it works?

I dont understand what you are asking...of course this knob works. There are photos and several cars in this thread of people currently using it.
