L15 JDM into UK GD1 Jazz....
L15 JDM into UK GD1 Jazz....
I thought I would share my new arrival!

So okay, for you guys in the US, L15 is your only choice but here in Europe it is not available...
So I decided to make you own GD3!!!
Got ECU to go with it and from intial cross referencing with my UK 1.3 and the workshop manual, it should be a straight forward swap.
Will have it ready for the big Japanese car show (JAE) end of July.

I got the 2005 L15 with 10,000km for around US$1200 with ECU (no gearbox). The wiring loom is still attached to the engine is removed as a whole all the way to the ECU. Install should be a breeze.
Although the L15 has been out for many years in Japan, the number is very low as most Fit's are L13. L13 engines are plentiful but it took me a long time for my contacts to find me a L15.
The engine is on a wooden pallet base tied down with steel wire. The cardboard box just goes around and on top.
Spot the differences with USDM L15??

so why would a person want the L15 it has less power and it if a person was going to go to all that trubb, why not go all out and get the 4wd?
- GD1: 1.3 L L13A engine 2WD
- GD2: 1.3 L L13A engine 4WD (Japan only)
- GD3: 1.5 L L15A engine 2WD
- GD4: 1.5 L L15A engine 4WD (Japan only)
- GD5: 1.2 L L12A engine 2WD (Europe only)
a k series a little heavy? i can't believe people actually believe that rubish.
youre talking about 100~150 lbs more, and then you get more than double the horsepower, maybe you haven't tried a 215HP engine on a sub compact car that weighs very little...

I think the GD4 is not retro fit and you need to complete car to begin with.....
As to K20, I have never been into engine transplants that were never meant to be there (i.e. If the car has a B series, then I dont mind swapping in a bigger B series, but not a different series engine). Hence the biggest stock engine I can get into the GD is a L15, which I as mentioned you cannot get in the UK and mine will be the first in the UK if not Europe....
Guys who like the K20 swap, that's fine, I even thought about it a long hard time, but my GD is a 7sp CVT and to fit the K20 would loose that function. As I live in London, without CVT or Auto, driving would no longer be a pleasure.... If I want some speed fun, I'll just take out one of my other cars.... At the moment because it is summer, a 210hp Mk2 Miata Turbo!

sparkplugs
have fun buyn twice as many spark plugs, kinda weird but hay watev. i think ill just stick with the engine that is in our usdm fit and turbo it with that VF turbo from the rdx that way if i blow it itll be easy to find another, ill just pick up one that someone swapped out for their k series.
The L15 has 4 plugs
L13 has 8 plugs.

I am in same situation... No L15a in EU.
If Honda sell Fit with L15A and 4WD (gd4 )in Switzerland... I am sur the sell go on top. We search 4wd (snow) i thnik same in norway and nord country.
Honda sell many many fit (jazz) in switzerland, but if we can have the gd4... wow...
You had payed 1200$ with shipping cost ?
Wy the IM on the JDM is in plastic (same of L13A) and the USDM is in aluminium ?
Haven't started the swap yet as I have other cars to get ready for the carshow. The L15 swap is the easiest of all the cars at the moment!
From what I can gather, the gearbox is the same fitment and I will be removing my CVT from my L13 to fit onto the L15.
With the L15, I bought a JDM CVT L15 ECU too. I think it should be straight forward. Only concern is the Immobiliser system that has the chip transponder in the plastic part of the key. My friend at Honda tells me that the JDM models do not have this like we do in Europe, so the engine will start without a problem.
However, if they do have it in Japan, then it's going to be difficult!

Im thinkn more along the lines of a crazy VFT from a RDX for my future fit, ill have our tech guy dummy up a profile program chip that will pop that little flutter valve in those VFT turbos and ill be pushn 8-13 psi all the time, then if the engine blows ill just throw another oem l series in for nattin cuz everyone else is going k series. witch is nice but little heavy and a tight fit.. just some food for thought. There were a few here Stateside that were wondering about the L13, maybe an exchange program between the US and EU
?
Also, to VBO, the Suisse poster, I am surprised the AWD car is not sold in Switzerland, my memory was that other Japanese AWD cars including Mitsubishi and Suzuki sold well there?

We like AWD, wy in winter we have snow and many road in mountain. AWD with snow it's a lover thing ! You can play and for security it's very very better.
But it's the same thing of the LSD on EP3. In Switzerland and UK we have LSD option in EP3 but all other EU country cannot buy LSD in option. If a French guy come in switzerland for mounting LSD by Honda Swiss, he lose the warranty in French.
I think Honda EU have think, don't necessary to import AWD or too less competitive, or too much price, i don't know but bad for me.
Honda sell many many many Jazz (FIT) here. It's impressive. I see minimum 4-5 Fit per day. Everywhere you go, you see a Fit.
For litle car with AWD we have suzuki swift, subaru justy, Fiat Panda. After you go to big car same subaru impreza, mitsubishi evo,etc...
The only Honda AWD we can have it's the CRV.
Another thing i don't understand it's the Accord EURO-R.... Don't be selling in Europe. "euro" for what ?
That's can come from pollution norm of EU, i don't know.
