h11's are for the fog lights, but supposedly the h9 has the same key as the h11 and produces 2100 lumens compared to the 1350 produced by the h11's.

i read somewhere that the key difference is so small that you can use the bulb in place of the h11, and i proved it wrong last night. ill keep playing around with it to see if i can get it to go in.

visually comparnig the two bulbs, they are almost identical to each other except for some certain differences with the key, and the tip of the h11 bulb is covered. everything else seem to be geometrically the same, including the distance of the filament from the base.

By the book; the correct ones are H11. Although I did put H9's on mine. I had to do a little minor cutting in the fog light housing bulb slots and a minor trim on the plug on the bulb. Light output is much better and I have had no problem with the 10 extra watts or oncoming drivers.

Darn, have to mod the housing itself?
I was hoping to mod just the H9 bulbs....

What was the minor cutting that you had to do? I am thinking of upgrading to the H9 bulbs myself! How long did it take you to swap them?

can you advise me on which prongs did you have to modify? do you think that if i modify the prongs on the base of the bulb enough, i dont have to modify the housing for the fog lights?

I made a couple of the slots wider on the housing because it was some kind of hard plastic although you could make the metal tabs smaller in width on the bulb and do the same thing. I did have to cut a small piece of plastic off the plug end of the bulb with a utility knife. I used a small metal cutter with a Dremel tool for the housing. I'll see if I can get some pics together.

Reason for the H9 bulbs over H11 is because the output on the H9 is much greater than H11....

1350 lumens from the H11, 2100 lumens from the H9.

That is why.

if i take a side by side picture of the H9 and H11, would you be able to show us where to cut the base of the bulbs?
