Actually, there is a Peugeot 205 GTi on eBay.ca right now, since Canadian(en) importation laws are more lax for grey market cars.
I remember seeing one in Montreal back in 1993 along with a slew of Renault 5s and Citroen CXs.

Hmm, the older ones (1991 was the last year in the US) were not like this, Volvo and VW take the cake there!
