Some new mods :)

OK a few more goodies for my little daily driver.

Toyo R888 195/50/15

Had these tyres on the MX-5 and did many track days in them and all up 15,000kms. In the MX-5 they were better in the wet than a set of Yokohama C-Drives. They did get slippery towards the end though. These tyres are also amazingly fast to warm up and grip.

On the Jazz it's more of the same. Very good in the wet and warm up very fast (like, around the block!) in the dry. I haven't heard any tyre squeeling yet out of these (stock tyres were silly, protesting all the time) and I'm cornering a lot faster and with a lot more confidence than the stock Potenzas.

There's a fair bit of tyre noise (droning like sound), even more pronounced in the wet but that's normal with semis. Also, the softer compound kicks up a lot more little rocks and pebbles on the road so you hear a lot of little dinky sinky noises coming from the rocks being spat up into your wheel wells, again, normal for semis.

They're a lot fatter than the stock tyres, semis usually are a lot fatter even if they're in the same size as your stock tyres due to the stiffer sidewall. I get a lot of rubbing in the rear now when there's passengers in the back but it's due to a silly tab that holds the rear bumper in place. I'll have that grinded down next week.

All in all, me happy, me love the extra confidence semis bring to the table, me love semis for street driving, me looking forward to seeing how the little car goes on the track too.

Installed TODA cold air intake (made by TODA Australia) + J's racing front air guide and custom mesh.

Very tight fit, feels like I might have lost a little response down low (had ram pod before) but gained up top. Nice to know cold air is getting in there at all times.

Installed J's Racing floor bar
Easy install, took 15 minutes, 2 bolts, done.
Purchased from JDMyard.
Feels a little firmer, more confidence in the rear on hard corners

New mugen short shifter installed today (still in the box in above pic). Easy job, took me 45 minutes. Shift throw felt amazingly tough and notchy when car was cold but after sriving it around all day today it's feels normal again. Not as hardcore as the TRD short shifter I had on the 86, nothing like it, but still... it makes an already decent shift better so I'm happy.

And just some figures on weight savings:

-------------------------------------------------------------

- Stock wheels: 7.7kg/wheel x 4 = 30.8kgs
- Buddy club QF: 4.6kgs/wheel x 4 = 18.6kgs
= Weight saving of 12.2kgs (unsprung weight FTW!).

- Rear magic system seats = 30kgs
- Spare wheel + tyre = 15kgs
- Rear spare wheel floor cover/panel = 4kgs
- Rear sliding parcel tray/luggage cover = 2kgs
- Tool kit = 2kgs
- Rear floor mats = 1kg

TOTAL: 66.2kgs!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Some more heavy stuff removed/replaced:
Axle back stock exhaust (8kgs)
Stock Airbox (2.7kgs)
Stock suspension (20kgs)

On the cards:
Bucket seats to replace front seats
Headers
Titanium cat-back
Lightened pulley
Lightened battery

The car looks great. I love everything about it.

Thanks peeps. It's getting there... not near finished yet. I've still got the bug for modifying the little thing, as an usual... I don't have a clear and recise plan as to where the car might go, so I'll just go with it for now.

Yes 100% bolt on. Might be different for US fits though.

So I just took a look at your R32. Holy Jeebus!!!!!!!
So fackin nice! One of the reasons why I love my Mx-6 is because it resembles the R32 Skyline.

TODA Australia is not making anymore of these intakes unfortunately.

And cheers for the feedback on the R32 guys. It's a truly amazing car and it has single handedly taught me a lot about patience, true love and respect!!!

Here's one of the latest pics of the beast. New 18x10 wide CE28's on 265 wide R888's.

Almost ready to rumble!!!
