Damn kids!

On Friday I got a nice phone call alerting me that some kid had thrown a bottle through the rear window of the Fit. My wife drives it to work and back and it happened while parked in a middle school parking lot. Ugh

(sorry for crappy pics)

The short of it is that of course no one knows who did it, there's no way the police are going to be interested enough in our underfunded town, and I'm out of my $500 deductible. I changed my insurance to a $0 deductible just in case, it was a whopping $24 for 6 months

I'm just glad they missed the wiper and the hatch panel, there is no way a body shop would get that to look right ever again

Sorry to hear that. Time for a Flex-a-Lite rear window. Lighter weight, improved acceleration. Yum

Damn, that looks pretty bad.
I hate people who do this kind of random crime. Its ok though, carma will catch them at some point. Good luck on the repair.

Is there a reason the rear glass is not tempered? I would have expected the whole window to come down from a blow like that...instead you have a sharp jagged hole. I guess if I ever drive off a bridge I'm not gunna try to break out the back lol.

P.S. I bet you would like to get a hold of that kid's parents eh?

I've had a rear window shattered by a rock before on a former car of mine. I can only bet it was kids that did it to mine, just like yours.

I'm sorry that your window got busted.

Side note: Middle school kids are the worst kind.

Right after the pics were taken, they started to clean up the glass. The whole thing is held in place by a combination of stillness and luck - whenever a part was touched, it crumbled away and into the back. The only part of the window that was left was the part that had adhesive bonding it to the body.

The glass shop just let me know that the window they had shipped in has a big scratch on it, so I get to wait another day :/

BUT the silver lining is that middle schoolers are stupid, and they talk. The responsible party has been identified and maybe I can get my $500 back

Damn that blows dood, I would be kicking some middle school ass if they did that to my Fit!!! Glad that the people who did it are stupid! Morons didn't think they wouldn't get caught if the blabbed about how badass they were...

How much would it have been for the window (out of pocket)? I was thinking it might be worth it to just pay for it outright rather than risking a higher premium. -food for thought-

The window costs about 615 for replacement, but state farm doesn't raise premiums if it is vandalism.

Classic! ^^^^

I hope it works out buddy
Sorry you had to go through that, as whatever doesn't kill ya makes you more bitter.

I actually feel sorry for the kid, not for what they did but for what they may have become. Which would be a worthless person.
