I like. These rims look surprisingly good. I didn't know these were OEM ones. Can you give us any specs? 195/55 seems quite big to me. What about 195/50? Looking forward to further pics.

Yep they're stock. The wheels' specs are 15x6 +53 offset, so they'll be tucked in the fenders pretty well. I weighed them when I got home and they weighed roughly 15 lb. each.

The stock tire size with these wheels was 185/55R15 if memory serves - I think 10mm more tread at the same aspect ratio will work, but 195/50 is good too. We'll see what's available.

No need for hub-centric rings on these as the hub bore should match perfectly, unlike with my Rota Circuit 10s. Only beef I have now is my wheel locks won't work any more. Back to the dinky stock lugnuts I go...

 

I was VERY close to replacing the wheels today but sadly my friendly regular shop didn't have stocks of the Toyo Proxes T1R tire in 195/55R15.

Meanwhile, I'm also throwing in a few photos from my recent trip to Baguio. It's a popular road trip destination here - a good 5-7 hours' drive depending on traffic and when you leave.




Racking up the distance on one tank...

Eventually I broke about 530 kilometers before I surrendered to an early fuel stop. That's the distance from my house to Baguio, then almost half the distance back - I made a splash-and-dash at Gerona, Tarlac. Longest ever journey achieved on one tank.

Unfortunately I began the return trip from Baguio with a long, nasty crack on Aibo's windshield.

I miss trackdays.

Probably going to change my mind about my choice in rubber. T1Rs are currently nowhere to be found in 195/55 R15...and I've heard there are better alternatives.

Tires are Kumho Ecsta SPTs, 195/55R15 85V. Very very fresh.



I miss the wide, butch stance on the Rota Circuit 10s, but the new rolling stock feels much lighter (despite the wheels just weighing 2 lb/corner lighter) and rides quite obviously better.

Much less of a bitch to clean too.

 

Hello guys. Took a hiatus from car forums for a couple years.

I'm back, and Aibo's still racing.



I also got a fresh addition to my non-existent trophy cabinet.

 

I wore my Kumho Ecsta SPTs down to the wear bars after four trackdays and a lot of driving in two years. It was also rather timely, as they screeched and understeered badly at my final track outing. They're a good road tire, but they just lacked bite around Clark International Speedway.

So I got these.


In the interim I also got a set of SSR Type M wheels and black 17mm Kyo-Ei lugnuts. I needed 5mm spacers up front to fit the wheels properly.

15"x6.5" ET45, 4x100/114.3. These are the last wheels I'm buying for Aibo for a good long while, as they are maintenance-free featherweights at 11 lb each.

Everything else remains as stock as it ever was...which doesn't really matter as it can still do THIS.

Thanks! I'm still running an all-stock L13A3 i-DSI motor. Eight valves, two spark plugs per cylinder, no VTEC whatsoever. 82HP at the crankshaft.

 

Looking back at all the things I had planned for Aibo...I really must've thought that money grew on trees. It's been two years and looking back I have to rewrite my plans a bit.

New rear wing - this will have to come sooner rather than later. My OEM rear wing has its mount points on the left side damaged and now it's just held on literally by duct tape. Not a fan of Spoon-style wings as they mean I can't use the rear wiper any more.
Lowering springs? - still thinking about this. A lowered ride height isn't practical here in Manila, and I would really rather not have to be afraid of scraping the undercarriage on humps, but Aibo will definitely benefit from more spring rate up front.

Held off from putting this decal on Aibo's rear end for a long time. After three years of attending their events, I think I've deserved this. Not many people here take their GDs to the track and this is proof that I do a lot more than just dress the car up and hardpark.

The Recaro SRDs went out of the car one hot summer day because I wanted to clean them. The Alcantara material on the seat bolsters attracted the lint from my shifting elbow, some dirt along the seat belts, and dust bunnies from the pants legs of both driver and passenger.




I thought this would be a good opportunity to show just how different they were from the stock seats...thanks to a couple bottles of San Mig Light.



The SRDs use Alcantara material on about 80% of the seat. Following the suggested care instructions of the makers of the material, I made a solution of one part Woolite and four parts water and put it into a bottle that used to house quick detailer spray. I then sprayed the solution, manually massaged it into the seat, then used a wet shop vacuum cleaner on the seats and air-dried them away from direct sunlight.
