My first mod!!!

Okay, I just wanted to share some pics of my first mod I did to my Fit. I received a used injen CAI (it is the older 2 piece one) yesterday that I bought and I installed it today before I went to work. I would like to give props to umiekun for hooking me up with it. Keep in mind this is the ONLY think I have done to my MR base Fit.

It only took me a little bit over 1.5 hours and it was very easy to install with out any instructions. The car sounds a little bit "throatier", if that is even a real word, past 3500 RPM. I hope this gets me closer to my goal of getting 40 + MPG the way I drive. I am not tryin to make this the fastest FIT in town, just the most efficient one. LOL!

Man what sort of maintenance does that filter have? I hate taking mine off to clean and it goes right behind the fog light. Looks like you'd have to remove the bumper every time it needs a cleaning? Looks good though man. Bot up an axle back to finish off the tone!

I am not too sure about the maintenance on the filter, but the bumper was cake to take off, IMO. (as you can see in one of the pics I have a lil helper, lol) I will probably need to maintain/clean the filter more often due to the fact I live in an area that is very sandy/desert like!

I am currently trying to decide between the megan or apexi ws 2 axleback. But that might have to wait a little bit longer. I am about to drop some major money on new tires for my wife's car and medical/vision bills for the family. They come first and the fit second. LOL.

Anyways, thanks for the kind words.

I hate the sound the bumper makes every time I remove it (I feel like it's cracking apart ha!) and I've gone through those stupid push clips like crazy. I lose one almost every time, or it breaks, especially the ones underneath, because of road wear.

I'd say the Megan if you want to stay under the radar. The APEXi is also good for that too though, but the Megan almost looks factory, and that's clean IMO.
What kind of car are the tires for? I got a crazy deal on tirerack.com for my fit. 195/50/R15 Kumho ECSTAs, basically a working man's falken ziex for $240 for a set of 4 including shipping and with roadside hazard extra protection. They have other good deals going - some give you a 50-100 dollar rebate or gift card, things like that.
I don't think I'll ever buy tires from a local shop again, haha.

I agree, family first, fit second.

Tires are for the Element SC. They come stock with 18's. 222/55/18 i think. I allready tried tire rack but if i remember correctly they only carried 1 or 2 tires that size. I did get a quote from pep boys for less than 700 for install, tpms, etc... and ill get one tire for free after mail in rebate. I think the tire was a hankook all season touring with 100,000 warrantly. I might be wrong though on the mileage warranty. I am too lazy to go find the quote right now. But that seems to be a good deal to me.

Looks good man! If you wana improve your MPG try changing your spark plugs to HKS and your engine oil to HKS Partially Synthetic. I swear i got better MPG now... some may say it makes no difference but from my experience its helped

Nice mod! Looks like you did a great job and it always makes me sad to see a Fit without a bumper!

Thanks for the kind words...Don't worry the bumper was only off for 1.5 hours.

How do I reset the ECU on the fit? It makes sense to reset it so it can "re-learn" with the new intake. Any info would greatly be appreciated.

I believe all you have to do to reset the ECU is disconnect the battery for a period of time.... 5 minutes should do it but i'm sure its probably shorter. nice install! be sure not to hydrolock too!

I allready reset the ecu then. I removed the lil ol battery when I was installing the intake. Battery was disconnected for more than an hour. Should have been plenty of time. Where I live it hardly rains. You can problably count on 1 hand how many times it rains in a year. So I won't have to worry too much about hydro lock. If it rains ill leave the car at home for a few hours or so...

This is the first ever Injen cai i have ever owned. So far I love it. You should check out optionsauto.com for the injen cai. On their site they say they have the older 2 piece kit like I just baught and the new 3 piece one. The 2 piece one like the one i got is $179.00 (U.S.) on their site. I like the fact that it sucks the air outside of the engine bay. My only concern is the piping will heat up the incoming air. I might paint the piping in a gunmetal color if I can find one that help keeps the piping cool. Anyone know of any spray paint that does that? The reason I want a gunmetal color is because that is the color rims i am looking for. I am also thinking of painting my headlight housings in a gunmetal color also!
