My poor baby.

Left work yesterday around 6pm and on the highway I ran into a blown Semi-truck tire. I didn't think much of it and didn't think there would be much damage except for maybe a couple of scuffs. Got home and checked it out and here's the damage.

Half my lip and other splitter is missing, bumper is caved in, radiator support and radiator seem to be mashed in as well, hood isn't lining up or closing properly, and the fender liner is hanging. I'm thinking of letting insurance take care of this, pay the deductible and get a jdm front. Anybody have any idea where to order the front?

Eff' you blown semi tire! I swear texas highways always has tons of debris on the road.

anyways, sorry to see your fit like that, but if everything works out and you get a jdm front. YAY!

go JDM front. Search the forums many people talk about where to buy. Sucks that you hit a tire though imagine if you were low there would be so much more damage.

Just to let you know. If the tire blew off the truck and was moving into the front of your car that would be covered under the comprehensive portion of your policy as a missile. If it was stopped and stationary in the road it would be covered by the collision portion of your policy.

DAMN!

Man if it makes you feel any better, when I owned my EP3, I got a brand new JDM front complete with bumper, rebar, lip, grill and a nice coat of new SSM paint. Within a year I ran into a truck tire like you and had a similar experience.

Sucks but you'll get something good out of it hopefully.

Major suckage! I feel your pain, I too hit a truck tread a little more than a year ago but managed to only scuff the bottom of the front lip while trying to miss it. On the brighter side of things, you are very fortunate that the driver side metal splitter didn't slice into your tire after it was broken off with your lip.

Texas is horrible about picking up their road debris plus they don't care how motorists secure loose cargo on their trailers, so even more junk falls on the road.

yes, if the tire was moving it's comprehensive.

I had a similar experience, a piece of steel came off of a truck and flew right into my front end. my insurance covered a new lip, bumper, and plastic underneath pieces...

the bumper and lip bent underneath but oddly enough came right back out and you wouldn't know they were messed up unless you starred at my bumper, or raised my car on a lift and saw the gash in my lip.

I only replaced the plastic so I made like 600 bucks. nice.

Last year on the highway, there was a merge on the oncoming traffic lane...
a van kicked a f***ing huge cone right in front of me, it blew in pieces and i was able to swerve a little to dodge the biggest piece... i was really lucky as it only chipped the paint a little on the front bumper...
