2007 Fit going to the grave...

Jeep Liberty pulled out in front of my wife today and she T-boned it at 45-55mph. The Fit did an awesome job protecting my wife, but I think it sacrificed itself in order to preserve her.

I am now torn on what to do with this one. I am contemplating buying her back to part her out for you lovely individuals and rob her heart for a high mileage swap.

Either way I think we will end up in another Fit as we just loved this little car and it really suited our needs. Although my wife is begging for a 2009+ we shall see.

Pretty sure it is totaled anyone do paint and body?

Radiator support was sitting near the intake manifold so at minimum it needs:

radiator, AC lines, condenser, core support, fenders, head lights, air bag, hood, bumper, grille, maybe doors, windshield molding, and entire body repainted. Seems reasonable to think its dead.

let's just be thankful that the wife is safe and as sad as the fit looks, at 45mph... that thing held up pretty damn well!

She had no time to stop so yeah it did awesome! Lady just pulled out in front like she wasn't there and my wife only had time to brace. Fortunately she left the scene with just seat belt bruises and a little shaken up. We got her checked out with MRI/CT scans and she is all clear.

We bought this car after a Z71 ran a red light and prematurely shortened our 2003 Nissan Altima's life. After that we wanted a car that fit our traveling needs MPG, space, reliability, and sporty; hence the FIT. Of the most importance was a good safety rating after that last scare and man was it a good choice!

Thankfully my wife stirred me from unconsciousness this morning and asked if she should take my truck or the FIT. I opted to keep the truck for myself since I had a lot of places to go and it was raining heavily. She only drives 7 miles to work and it is a nice easy shot down a 4 lane high way. If she would've taken my truck I m pretty sure the kid in the passenger side of the Jeep Liberty would be dead or seriously messed up. Being that my wife are both educators that is not something that would hang well on our minds. Oh well cars can be replaced is the moral!

Wow, that looks pretty nasty. Glad she is alright and everyone walked away!

Shame about the car, but in the big scheme of things you're right, you can buy another! Looks like the GD3 in a head-on ~50mph crash with something as comparably large and tall as a Jeep Liberty. While sad and unfortunate those pictures and the results (bruises) are actually pretty reassuring!

You wouldn't happen to be on the ECMTuning forums as well would you? ... I think I recognize your login.

It is so aggravating some people cannot be bothered to put down the iTouch or cell phone and focus on the road.

That's a bad thing. Bracing before an accident tends to cause worse injuries. That's why when drunks are in accidents they tend to get injured less than comparable sober drivers.

Glad your wife is ok. If you do part it out, i have a 2007 orange fit that needs a rear bumper cover and rear sport lip assuming yours didnt suffer any damage.

All the damage was to the front end. I m not sure if the doors were damaged, but I will get more photos tomorrow most likely.

I know bracing is bad but it is hard not to react to an impact like that. Hopefully her pain and aches are not long term.
