Dr. Unsped's GE8 Base Conversion Progress Thread

Some of you may have seen the thread I have in the GE8 section regarding putting a sport front end on a base. I have decided to do more conversion items so this is a thread to put everything, hope you enjoy.

First things first:

After Sport Front End, Mirror Caps, and Wheels:

Now with Mugen Sides:

Test Fitting Mugen Front:

Side View to Check How Low the Front Hangs:
(I consider this view to be the worst for a Fit, shows off the huge honker they put on the USDM Fit's, I think the extra low Mugen sides help balance it out some, even compared to Sport sides).

2/8/2011 -
Received my sport spoiler today, just need to figure out a good way out mounting it where corrosion won't become and issue, then wait for a warm enough day to mount the Mugen front ... then hopefully I'm done for now! I am debating the Mugen rear ... it kind of looks like a mini van, and I think the grill and emblem are just too expensive for basically nothing.

2/28/2011 -
Going to reinstall the spoiler and install the mugen front when it gets around to being warm enough! Snapped some pics of the Mugen front with the spoiler on though ... wondering if I should get the rear and grill

That looks nice! Makes me want to go ahead and do the Mugen Kit. Like I said in my thread I think when I lower mine it will scrape all the time. I already have my springs. Those are next to go on. I need to do the sides. It looks unbalanced without them. Great job! Keep the pics coming. Good luck with the spoiler install!

Looks good my frugal friend. Don't park next certain statues, they may piss on your car.

Noob Question: Just wondering, cause I'm planning a conversion as well. When you buy your sport bumper, did it come with fogs or did you have to buy that separately?

curious

I'm just curious; why buy a base Fit then spend time and $$ turning it into a sport? I figure the difference in cost in buying a sport up front is less by the time you're done?

Well in my situation, I really wanted a sport so it would be less work trying to mod the car. But it wasn't my choice. My dad bought the car and at that time, did not have the money for a sport so he went with the base. I now drive the car and want to mod it so yeah...

I couldn't agree more, that's why I like my tinted headlights so much

Its cool that your modding the car and everything but I guess I don't understand why you didn't just start with a sport and go from there, you've put some good money into the car already, so its not about that for sure. Keep modding, its looking great but one question, when getting wheels, why did you go with the stockers?

looks like a sport...

how much was it altogether? i wonder if a jdm front conversion would have been comparable price wise...
