Considering that will stick out 11mm (almost half of an inch) more than his car, your fenders will need pulling and you'll need a tiny baby tire. I'm sure it could work, but you won't like it.
Also, by functional do you mean drivable or drive enthusiastically-able?

Hey Mike, i have been MIA for quite a while now, I actually sold the fit and picked up a nissan 240sx (i will post pics later) that was fun for drifting and all until i was hit by a drunk driver. now im in the processes of finding a new car.
What are you looking for now? I feel like an s-chassis would fit your modding style better than the GD did haha, sucks to hear about the accident, hope all is well with you.
Im actually looking a 2005/2006 legacy gt wagons or outback xt's(they are the same chassis with slight exterior differences) I found a outback in manual that im really considering picking up. the only thing is its two tone. It doesnt bother me that much because im sure i can tie it all together with some nice works wheels or ccs's.

This is a outback, this is the look im sorta wanting to go for.

Fit looks great. I looked at a 2005 Legacy GT wagon before buying my Fit however the gas mileage was the only thing I did not like I usually put around 20k on a car a year and gas becomes a big factor
Yep, and if you drive aggressively that turbo just sucks down your gas!

Sometimes I drive aggressively with my Fit usually leaving in lower gears and revving high when taking off from lights or going up ramps onto the highway. Yet I am still averaging 32.6 mpg, needless to say when I look at other cars I keep going back to my Fit. Maybe if Honda offers a SI version in the redesign or a 2016 Civic hatchback SI.
