Ready for winter?

I think I'm finally ready for winter road trips! Winter wheels and tires and bars with a basket to hold luggage (the humans and dogs go inside). Has anyone else added anything to their car to get ready for snow travel?

Especially in winter, I'd want my luggage to be enclosed if at all possible. I suppose it does depend partly on what one is carrying; getting salt and slush on, say, skis is a little different than one's suitcase or sleeping bag.

I'm not quite ready. I need to get the window scraper and small emergency shovel out of the garage and into the car. I did grab the giant toothbrush already.

I bought a Keeper bag to go inside the basket. It's completely waterproof and will strap down into the basket for luggage and whatever else I can throw in there. With the Fit's roof not able to bear any sort of load I got the basket so I can carry all my stuff in the Keeper without setting it directly onto the roof of the car.

I forgot to mention that I installed the Honda OEM block heater to my car. I don't have a garage at my house so it has been awesome on these cold winter mornings. My car warms up in a minute or less as opposed to having it run for 5 minutes or more. I also had heated seats installed. Now if only Honda would come out with a heated steering wheel option...
