Hi,

As you can see the bolt is damaged. Lol damaged by me actually when I was trying to remove it to install the Sway bar. Do I go to a dealer and ask them for one? or how else?

yeah... go to honda "parts department".. bring the picture.. they will pick it up on the computer what part number it is..

 

Take it out and have somebody drive you down to your local hardware store. Pick a new bolt and and washers or nuts you need to duplicate the original out of their stock go home put it in done.

 

i have the part number listed somewhere on the enduratech thread near
the end of the thread. it might take a while to get them... took
about 10 days as it had to be air'ed from Japan.

i bought a pair just in case since i cycled them like almost 20 times.

that's a 14mm nut-head. (no not calling you a nut head). lol

 

DO NOT waste time at your 'local' hardware stoe !

This a specific bolt.
Go to your dealer and order the bolt from the parts book.
Yeah, it'll cost $5 but you will have the right one.

 

yea i would stick with h.o.p.
that bolt was engineered to bear a load, and i trust that the mechanical engineers at honda did their math to determine the proper density and load limit for that bolt which is specific to our cars.

 

especially in the snowbelt states, definitely use factory bolts/nuts
as much as possible.

those local hardware store bolts only last a few months at best
in salt. they are not tested to automotive environments.

 

It's a BOLT just like any other bolt and is only holding the bottom of the shock. If it was "So special" there would be markings on the face of the bolt head indicating the "Special rating". You can get hardened bolts at a hardware store if you are nervous about replacing this bolt. It is NOT performing any "Critical job" in reference to the suspension and is of such a small diameter indicating it is not doing anything critical if it was the diameter would be of a much greater diameter just look at it it's TINY at only 10x1.25 mm if it was under great stress it would be much larger. And think about it for a minute it's holding in place a GIANT RUBBER bushing if it had great loads on it there would be a solid bushing not a rubber one. It's just a TINY bolt like any other all it is doing is holding the end of the shock nothing "critical" about it's use.

Nothing special about the Honda bolt a replacement in the correct size from a hardware store will work just fine to hold the bottom of the shock even in rust belt areas hardware store bolts are treated to resist rust as any factory part. Even IF the bolt failed all that would happen is a loose shock.

 

Thanks everyone, Ive ordered a pair at my local dealer and it will take a few weeks to come in. Turns out it is a special bolt and there are markings on the bolt head. Hardware store is out of the question. Thanks

 

If it has marks then it's a hardened bolt. Just match the marks with a hardened one from the hardware store no waiting.
