Leak Around the Rear Shock. Inside Car

FL has been having lots of rain lately. Even before Ive never had this problem. Its a VERY odd leak IMO.

Some of you know Im currently on Skunk2 Pro-C coilovers.
Where the rear shock comes through the rear of the car. Theres 2 rubbers. One on the bottom and one on the top, then a sleeve in the center.

That little "cup" that the top rubber sits in it; is it suppose to be welded?

Well, when I go over bumps water is forced through the body and the bottom of this cup. Bubbles and water ends up dripping down the body after a few bumps. The sound is annoying.

Im not worried about the leak so much. Im mainly worried about the cup breaking and my shocks shooting into my rear hatch.

That bubble at the base of the cup is water.
Anyone else find this odd?

maybe the SKUNK2 part caused the STOCK part to leak in the first place? ever think of that? :0

I'd say you have cracked the cup and thats how water is getting in. Water is 'pumped in' during rain when the shock piston rod 'hits' the bottom of the cup seat in the joint. That means its constantly subjected to repeated hitting. Unfortunately, that will lead to a more serious problem when the cup breaks away from the fender. You will lose shock control and potentially conrol of the Fit. FIX IT NOW. Both left and right sides. Notice I didn't say if but when. Guaranteed. Even before you drive again !
Needless to say, welding the cup back is imperative. Unfortunately its not a good place to be welded in as the two surfaces are shrouded by the edges, but it can be done. At the same time I would have both sides cups attachment to the fender reinforced with ribs or 'tiebars' welded in place.
Its just one of the hazards of lowering a suspension.
good luck.

Ray, I hope that you don't listen to mahout, so that I can laugh about the sad results. Good advice, mahout. Letting your lowered suspension hammer your car apart is guaranteed bad news. Good news for people who don't wish you well.

Is it coming out of the bottom of the cup where it's welded? or the part where the gasket is? I kinda have this problem on my used T1R's and I have been driving on them for 20k. I believe it's just the water getting through the gasket.

Its coming from the bottom of the cup. Theres no weld around the cup itself. Its just smooth.... Id guess its welded from the bottom?
I mean, its apparent the cup is detaching from the car.

I do plan on getting it welded. I should have did it yesterday. The shop next door to my job is a welding shop. They would do it for free.

Driverside.

Passenger.

It doesnt even really seem like this piece can come detached from the car?
Unless most of the area comes off from around it.

I pried on it with a pry bar just to see if it moved. It didnt.

Its just TINY little holes, unfinished areas that the water is passing in from.

Did you remove a covering for the shock or it comes like that?

Maybe you could take the shock out, mask off the hole to the inside of the car, and spray that area with rubberized undercoating and reinstall the shock?

I just lived with it. If enough water gets around the top of the shock bump stop itll force the water inside the car.
The sound was what bothered me. Once the rain is gone the sound is gone.

Havent had any problems besides the small leak.
